You guys DO realize there's such a thing as voting for a third-party candidate, right?
That doesn't work because the US uses a First Past the Post system.

I hate to just leave a link instead of explaining my points myself, but if you have 6min of free time, this video will do a better job explaining the problem of this type of voting system visually, than I could with a wall of text.

Keep in mind his ideal solution is employing the "Alternative Vote" system, but there are other ways. Here in Brazil, despite whatever problems we may have, there is a First Past the Post system, but we manage to also have several political parties by dividing elections into a 1st turn with all the candidates, and then a 2nd turn including only the two most voted for candidates.

Putting my hand in a wasp's nest here... Watched the video and you know it's pretty bad when Assad is more balanced, or at least less unbalanced, than the Western media about the situation in Syria.

It's an absolutely horrible situation, and there are so many hands stoking the fire there now, but it simply isn't as easy as remove Assad and that's that, there will be peace. What we know from other conflicts and countries is that once you remove the state apparatus, things will become worse. There are none (or few) good guys, and Assad, Russia, Gulf countries or USA is not one of them.

I love it when sensible people appear, even if irrelevant psychos on drugs (try hard to) ruin a(n interesting) thread. Pretty much this. But Russia isn't nearly as bad as "others". It didn't indirectly or not aid Jihadists in any way and it pretty much honors faithfully its alliances, unlike "others" and their allies *cough*.

That aside, everyone knows whose constant, never ending meddling in the area, caused each and every big issue, over the last decades. Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya. Some people who pretend to care for the rights of the people they invade, butcher, bomb or mercilessly puppeteer through diplomacy, behind the scenes. Same people who are ready to elect the closest friend of the warmongering bastard woman Albright, responsible for dropping uranium bombs in Kosovo some years ago.
