well it is a tcg online game...
I am so jealous! My S3 is a 4.3 and it won't work on it. :( Have fun catching all the Meowths for me!
It's actually pretty repetitive. And I can't find pokemons in my city :(

Yead it is abit, but so far i have encountered 10 different pokemon in my area, which has made searching the suburb kinda cool. I haven't done any battles yet
avatar
jimmmmmo: Ok everyone the game is out on IOS and Android. Who has played the game and what were your experiences so far? What have you caught so far? Any funny or memorable moments? I'm excited to see what others have to share, especially those from overseas :D

Happy hunting!

ps.

So last night i downloaded the game and tonight was the first time i went out to test the game. IT works really well, kinda like Ingress, if anyone has played that, someone what similar. You go out and explore the suburbs and environments around you. There were about 30+ people out tonight also playing the game (you see them walking around with their phones out and at certain spots to catch pokemon or go to a pokestop to collect items.

Ill add a few photos of the pokemon and environments i come across.

It's a bit simplistic, but heaps of fun to play :D

I've played it a bit; can't get too much time in before the server overloads and I get booted out. Have to say I'm a little disappointed with the actual "game" part of Go. I was hoping that random encounters might give opportunities for fights with wild Pokemon and trainers, but it looks like fake money is needed to buy XP. Kind of a garbage Pokemon game on that front, but definitely one of the more interesting takes on AR I've seen; doesn't really hurt that the incentive of just collecting the cute little buggers gives me a good excuse to remember to take a walk every now and then.

That said, I have to express some puzzlement at the design and coding problems. I've heard that Go just got out of beta testing; I have to wonder what kind of beta testing they were doing, because I have been running into glitches like crazy that wind up locking the game up and requiring a hard reset from the settings menu. Wasted a couple of perfectly good balls trying to catch an Eevee when one of those happened. I have also run into a bug where the sound just flat out dies after the game has been running for any appreciable period of time. Also, if the game seriously expects me to go out into the wilderness behind my building to have any hope of getting a random encounter in the area, it can fuck right off.

amrit9037: well does anyone know any good Pokemon game for PC?
Google throws too many results at me, so if someone could help that would be great..
Nothing legal, sorry. All other Pokemon games are Nintendo exclusives. Kind of a bother since some of the older ones can only be run on handhelds that just aren't as widely available as the new hardware.

Pheace: With posts like 'I think I'm going to visit this nearby park I've never been to before, looks like a great place to capture pokemon!' I dread to think about all the minors wandering around in unknown spaces because of this ...
Yeah, I've already had at least one person in my complex look at me weirdly for wandering around behind our building. Once he guessed what I was up to he lightened up instantly.

On a more headesk worthy note, apparently the Australian police have actually had to tell people that, while the police station is a pokestop, it is not necessary to actually enter the police station to use it. I have to wonder how many people were dumb enough to try that for them to put out such a specific announcement.

EDIT: ninja'd

Darvond: As I understand, Pokemon Go has the same issue as Streetpass. If you don't live in Japan or travel, then that's just tough.
Not necessarily. The spawn points for Pokemon fluctuate, and it is not uncommon for me to randomly have them spawn on top of me while I am just farting around inside. The only problem is the Pokestops. Unless you live a reasonably short distance from a downtown area or other area littered with monuments, you won't be able to reliably use them as a way to get free stuff in order to avoid needing to pay for microtransactions.

I have a friend who lives near Cincinnati. She says there's bugger all there in terms of the Pokestop. Which is what the franchise should do in order to massively restructure and be rid of undesirable pokemon. I get that Ohio is a flyover state, but seriously manga.

LiefLayer: well it is a tcg online game...
Do you have any idea that you ruined my pun... :P

Btw I tried few of pokemon games.
They are all lame (and same).
I don't know why Nintendo keep making those.
Few years back there was a mod Pokemon in Skyrim.
It's nothing fancy but it could have been a solid total conversion mod for Skyrim.
I guess who ever will try to do that will get sued by Nintendo.

still Pokemon TCG online is legal and Windows/Mac/Android/iOS.

Oh good. We can all play one of the most boring trading card games there is, suffering from a massive case of power creep and rule creep that's basically training wheels for MTG.

Pokemon TCG wasn't designed with gameplay in mind, it was made to cash in on the licence, like Yu-Gi-Oh. Now the game is all about ridiculous EX pokemon, with no system to formally ban them in play.
Apparently Pokemon GO players are finding dead bodies now ...
Where do you come from? Where do you Go? Where do you come from, cotton-eye Jolteon?

I think is a good trading card game. because everyone has the opportunity to compete and there are no unbeatable decks. Unlike Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic etc ... all games that I really like (even more than Pokemon) but that at competitive level are boring, because everybody use the same decks.
The luck element (coin toss), in pokemon plays a fundamental role and this means that even a beginner can win against a professional with a little luck.
Regarding ex, only the beginners play with only ex deck. There are many decks that can easily counteract the ex.
There are several cards that do not suffer damage from pokemon basis (of which ex are part) or directly from pokemon ex (some of which also prevent the adverse effects). There are cards that increase their attack if they are against ex.
Ex are better used as a support cards. The latest expansion with BREAK cards is another example of how there are many cards comparable with the ex.

The application is also the only free2play I know, really free. In the format theme decks, everyone can compete on equal terms (and theme decks format is present in both versus and tournaments... so you can easily win cards both tradeable and not-tradeable cars even at the beginning).
The versus format is good because you can win rare (not-tradeable) cards and boosters pack just by playing... and if you win a tournaments you also win some tradeable packs (if you don't win, you still get 1 random tradeable card)... so that you can finish your deck with some trades.
You also get boosters pack by fight 12 times against cpu with a new theme deck and every 5 logins (and every months by newsletter right now).
After you get enought cards you can actually make your own deck for standard or extends format.

those who buy real packs has the unique advantage of having virtual tradeable packs (for theme decks they get the whole deck, for tin they get a special card).
The cards, however, are available for everyone, and everyone can compete so these benefits are not decisive.

The application is also done in a realistic way. The cards are the same as the real ones (you can also read them without zoom), it is possible to effectively collect the cards (in some unofficial applications cards are all unlocked, so it is not fun... in some official applications there is no way to get some cards if you don't wont to pay... since in pokemon tcg online there is no in-app purchaise (apart from the "tournament pass" but they are given in industrial quantities for free almost every match, in the versus, in the login... there is no reason to actually buy any "tournament pass") there is not the "pay2win" problem), It is updated every time a new expansion comes out (which, for example, yu-gi-oh games for ds miss).

the only comparable application (for yu-gi-oh) is Ygopro that is not official and where you cannot collect any cards. the magic official app is a pay2win where you actually need to buy virtual cards to try to win. blizzard hearstone is not realistic (cards are chibi) and it is a pay2win (less pay2win than magic but still you can buy cards in-game).
the best thing about pokemon tcg is however the theme deck format, where there are no banlist and you can play only with pre-made decks (everyone can win, everyone can lose, and it is actually a really fun format where only your strategy and a bit of luck can make you win)... there is no such thing in Yu-Gi-Oh.

The original manga of Yu-Gi-Oh was not only about cards, there is even 2/4 arcs that are not about cards at all. The Mangaka of Yu-Gi-Oh was a big fan of Magic, and in the beginning Yu-Gi-Oh was about games in general, that's why kazuki takahashi decided to create Wizard&Magic inside his manga... that was one of the many games inside yu-gi-oh manga. Since the card game was very successful someone decided to create a real card game... but the final arc of the manga is still not about card games.
Pokemon TCG definitely was born as a commercial operation, but also Yu-Gi-Oh TCG was born in the same way (by copying, moreover, a lot from Magic).

Finally you may not like, but the fact that it is an official game and is available for computers is true.
