I remember when they said it would be impossible to have any LucasArts or Bethesda/ZeniMax games on GOG. And now we have Outlaws, multiple Star Wars games, Oblivion, Fallout 3 and New Vegas. Maybe someday we'll see some Microsoft games like Age of Empires, Freelancer, or Urban Assault.

Well when it comes to always online MMO's, those are the most unlikely to make it to GOG because of the DRM. GOG is much more likely to get older, singleplayer games.

I do have another nice idea for gog company to use for game wishlist area to clean it up

(GAME NAME)
(Expansions) (Expansions) (Expansions)
(Expansions) (Expansions) (Expansions)

just add the main game and then add all Expansions in that so when searching it pops up like that so

Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos
The Frozen Throne,

p.s. also it keeps throwing me off when people just put warcraft 3 down and separated Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos becuase i keep thinking it's dlc -_-

this way when someone searches for The Frozen Throne it will direct the person to Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos since it's part of that game

so take this as example https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games#search=The%20Battle%20for%20Middle%20Earth&order=recent it would reduce it to 2 basic wish

lord of the rings battle for middle earth
lord of the rings battle for middle earth II
The rise of the witch king
then instead of voting for random ones we can just vote on these 2

PoppyAppletree: I mean, it's a great way to draw people from Steam.
The deal is, buy from Steam, get GOG copy free. That's double the copies per purchase. Buy from GOG, get one copy. The consistent Steam buyer get the better deal. I don't see the incentive to switch to GOG with that kind of deal. :|
Stalker 2 was an impossible wish a month ago, maybe it still is, but it's not the same level of impossibility anymore.

KnightW0lf: yes i know there are some games wishes can be hard to reach but when someone asked for command & Conquer 5 that game doesn't even exist
https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/command_conquer_5_1

can we at lest start trying to get games that are lest possible and go from there, unless the whole wish list are taken as jokes hench some of the games like halo, C&C, diable, Age of Empires
But i leik diable :(
Technically, everybody is constantly traveling through time, each and every second. So GOG is progressing with adding games not available yet by means of traveling time until the games are available (and contracts negotiated).

javihyuga: But i leik diable :(
well thats fine putting on wishlist but there are only a few that seem more impossible i mean to me the whole wishlist on gog seems more of joke then people actually wanting games.

Diablo 1 HD
Diablo I, Diablo II and Diablo III + Expension packs and Soundtrack and maybe some wallpapers/art
"Diablo + Hellfire" and "Diablo 2 + Lord of Destruction"
Diablo I
Diablo, Warcraft, GTA, C&C (with expansions, or full collections)
Diablo III
Diablo III: Reaper of Souls
Diablo 3
Diablo: Unearthed Arsenal
diablo, fade to black, day of the tentacles

these are all request when you search for diablo and in honesty people are not looking up and searching for the game already made as well it would reduce the number of things on the wishlist
Diablo I +DLC
Diablo 2 + DLC
Diablo 3 + DLC
it would reduce the number from 10 to 3 now thank of it this way and how much helpfull it would be, you could reduce 60 wishes to maybe just 10 if each game has 6 wishlisted

as for impossible games like age of empires definitive edition not even steam has it because it's going to be windows only same as diablo 3 as for diablo 1 we might have to wait more years sadly and maybe one day we will get that.

and then we also have mods https://www.gog.com/wishlist/games/diablo_unearthed_arsenal since there not expansion and can't really be added the only way is to post a download link or gog carry the files on there servers

also i asked about 1-2 years ago all game wishlist even series are supposed to be separated so no
Diablo 1,2,3
it has to be
Diablo 1
Diablo 2
Diablo 3
which makes sense so they can work on each game as well mark progress, it's a little hard to mark progress on 3 games at once :P as well if there all different games

i'm just trying to help the gog community out

The GOG wishlist has tons of impossible games on it, even those games were actually published at some point in the past. They are impossible for reasons such as the original IP holders no long exist and no one is sure who owns the IP any more, if anyone. For other games, they are impossible because the companies that do own the IP have no interest in releasing on GOG and nor will they in the future. There are plenty of other reasons too.

Are those types of impossible wishes going to be deleted too? Who shall be the arbiter that decides what is "impossible" or not, and when to let certain impossible wishes remain undeleted (because if they deleted all the impossible wishes, then there would be a huge backlash because tons of popular games would be removed)?

Better to delete the GOG wishlist entirely, since it is useless anyway. If GOG is able to acquire a game that it wants under terms it finds acceptable, then it will. Having it on a "wishlist" isn't going to change that.

Are there any published games which are not on GOG that also aren't on the wishlist? Probably not right? ...which is just another example of why it's a useless feature.

Instead of having a wishlist, they might as well just post a statement on the website that says "We realize every game that has ever been published will have fans that include some of our customers who want to buy them from us."

Hey, fuck you buddy. If I want to wish for ten billion dollars and all of the red headed sex slaves I can eat on GOG, then I will wish for ten billion dollars and all of the red headed sex slaves I can eat on GOG, and I'll be damned if I'm going to let you stop me.

That's not what the thread was about originally though. I'd say a game that doesn't exist certainly is "impossible" to release and doesn't belong on the wishlist. But I do not think this currently is a problem at all. A much larger problem are all the duplicates or all the small nonsensical variations like this or that expansion, this tiny DLC, wishes about multiple titles (sometimes even entirely unrelated), etc. And GOG not really taking care of the wishlist (merging wishes, making sure that wishes are marked as completed, unmarking games that were removed from the catalog, maybe even removing the worst offenders, etc.). But I don't think they should use up resources to actually do this. I find it irritating how many people don't check for duplicate entries before adding a wish. It just looks like an endless time sink and it's just going to get worse as the community grows unless improvements are made to the way the wishlist works like checking for similar titles and prompting the user to make sure that it is indeed a new wish. I disagree that the wishlist itself is useless though. Released titles without a wishlist entry do indeed exist although they are rare. What matters here is the amount of votes so they can gauge interest and prioritize certain titles. Also there is really not much to be gained from removing something that's already implemented even if it were in fact useless which is debatable.
I just found this one from years ago:

https://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/cure_cancer
Are you telling me to give up on Portal?
Do you realize how long I have longed to play that game? Enduring all the hype all these years?
I am not, NOT letting this dream go away! It will come here. Soon™

Actually, they could divert some tiny % of game prices to cancer research, humblebundle-like, and mark it "in progress"...

(Disclaimer : I like the charities aspect of the humble store.)
