Je sais mais apparemment il "l'oubli" à chaque fois que je me reconnecte; en plus ce setting n'impacte pas les e-mails.

Oh. Euh... au moins les gris sont jolis, non? :$
I would go even one step further and say: GOG, please stop using GeoIP at all! Let the users decide what language they want and what nationality they have.

I travelled frequently (also for longer periods, when working abroad), but my nationality (and my pay) remains German. It's also valid the other way round. Russian colleagues coming to work in middle European labs are still paid (or sometimes not really paid) by their home institutions. You advertised your regional pricing as 'more fair to those from poorer countries'. But as long as you automatically assign them a new nationality every time they travel, your system is NOT fair!

Just assume all people coming to GOG.com are speaking English and pay in USD.
Just like before you changed that.

No harm done.

In account settings, users should change favourite language/currency.

Hello,
Ok for the store but not working for mailbox. Mailbox = GeoIP = I receipt all in german, and i speak only french and i live in Switzerland.
Greetings

GeoIP is an odd choice of heuristic when the simpler and more-reliable Accept-Language header is available.

Ah, but I see this thread is about emails, so they don't have IP addresses or HTTP headers to work with, just a list of accounts, each of which is associated with an email and a location, and they needed to decide what language to use. Then again, since accounts have a language setting I can't imagine why they wouldn't use that, so this is probably just a weird bug or oversight.

Pardon my random musing. Someone's already contacted support about the account language setting not affecting emails, right?

My whole post is addressed at the GOG Team, not you.
Read it again and you will understand it better with this context in mind.
This was not a suggestion directed at you.

Cheers

glubbar: This automatic localization based on IP is really dumb and has pissed me off for months now.

Can GOG.com wake up and stop this nonsense?
Could not agree more. This GeoIP discrimination nonsense, and I mean all aspects, whether it is not showing certain movie or games or even whole website (I look at you pandora.fm !) or just greeting the user in his/her supposed native language IS TEH SUX! Of course many sites do that, but that doesn't make it any better.
low rated
7 year later and they are still doing it... I am in China and the app is in chinese... neither can I read nor speak chinese... great shit now. thanks. can I have my money back for the games I bought?

Leaving aside this being a bit of a necro...

1. The website lets you change the language down at the bottom. I'm currently located outside of the UK, but I still see the shop in English and prices in USD per my preferences (probably using cookies).

2. Galaxy might do something different, but it's an optional client - you don't need to use galaxy (I've never used it)

3. Even if Galaxy is using geo-location, can't you just use a VPN? Given you say you are in China and cannot read nor speak Chinese (presumably Mandarin as I'm guessing they don't use Cantonese), I'm guessing that you're not actually Chinese so I find it surprising that you're not using a VPN to place yourself back in the open internet, away from CCP censorship (even if just to give yourself access to accurate news)

1. Click the cogwheel in the top left and choose Settings, which is above Report a Bug.
2. In the Settings window, click General on the left. It's the first thing in the GOG Galaxy Client category.
3. On the right, choose your language from the drop-down menu. It's the first thing at the top of the window.
