It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

DyNaer: I know FF is a memory eater, in this case , you are forced to restart it,. I'm no more certain now , but iirc i have seen in the past some extensions to help on this matter. But i never tested one to see if one of them worked properly.

The last advice i could give you : contact the support , they would certainly try to help you, and please, be nice stop to jump on others who try to be funny (just ignore them).
i tried several addon in order to decrease ram eating in firefox. none of them worked for me.

and i also contacted this gog support last night already, at morning i got "response".
i got blamed because of sending an email instead of using their support website.
what else should i have done? this support-thingamajigs also uses captcha-crap.
and captcha-crap didn't work at all last night. so no login AND no support working.
furthermore, after blaming me for sending email, finally captcha was on topic, and:
they do nothing about this issue. gog support gives a shit about captcha problems.
so gog-"support" is no solution because gog-"support" doesn't exist in this case...

HereForTheBeer: - use a browser that actually offers some measure of privacy, such as Tor.
woudn't a browser such as tor make things worse? i read about earlier this topic.

Well, yes and no. Depends on what priorities you have on the matter. For the privacy that you're seeking, my understanding is that Tor - and other browsers that aim to make you relatively anonymous - is going to be better for that. But it won't improve things for the Captcha frustrations.

Without going that route, you aren't really getting privacy. Not that anyone gets 'privacy' when we log in to this or that website. ; ) As mentioned, Private Mode is mostly to prevent someone from gaining access to your specific PC to see where you've been. And it also turns on by default the Tracking Protection feature. Basically, that mode doesn't store cookies and your history. That's why Captcha nags you every time: gOg doesn't recognize the PC since its cookies aren't stored on it. Or something like that. The second link explains how to turn on Tracking Protection without having to use Private Mode, which might be a good middle ground for you.

As to Captcha itself, I have no answer for making it work better. But by keeping the cookies for your gOg login, you can avoid Captcha nagging you every time you come to the site and login. Myself, I haven't seen the site Captcha in a long time except for a code redemption thingy last week. But I also allow for cookies. That bit of tracking they can do doesn't bother me much since I don't have accounts with Google, facebook, etc.

Well, i suggested those kind of extensions, just in case, i got some doubts they were working properly.

As for your email they never should have blamed you...this is ridiculous...condidering your issue.

HereForTheBeer gave you the best advices you can get, bear in mind, you probably won't be able to get full privacy as you expect Unfortunatly that's not possible for a site like GOG using captcha (but as i said they don't abuse of it).,
the problem is the privacy mode in your case.

There's an easy way around without messing with firefox settings, use another browser (i suggest Opera, it's fine, and it's not Chrome, even if it's based on it), A portable version should work i think (just in case, otherwise you have to install Opera).

Just use normally the other browser only for GOG, (and follow the advices i given at the start), in this way, you could still use Firefox in privacy mode for all others websites. Normaly you should be able to avoid the captcha if you only use the other browser for GOG (except if you have to redeem a gift code)

kohlrak: If i had a dollar for every time i've seen these complaints, i'd probably be buying more games right now.

On the flip side, i understand the privacy concerns, but i'll tell you now that the silly sneak mode is only lulling you into a false sense of security. You're gonna get tracked, you're gonna get spied on, etc. What you want to stay private, find another way to do it. Not ever facet of your life has to stay private: and it won't. You can never go completely off the grid. What you can do is be smart about what "they" know.
"Private browsing" is a joke. Even if you're running TOR, you still have to be very careful and are extremely limited in what you can do.

richlind33: "Private browsing" is a joke. Even if you're running TOR, you still have to be very careful and are extremely limited in what you can do.
What i like to focus on is understanding that what i read and do on the net and accept that that is public. That which i make on a system that i have full control over (my server, for example) is private. I can connect over the net, and i can have my encrypted communications intercepted, but they not only have to break the encryption, but also translate all my keystrokes, which gets complicated as i'm moving between files and working on files that have been created, but no touched, over a week or month ago.

Meanwhile, i also have "semi-secure," where i understand that if i were to get images from a woman from the woman herself (just to make this example realistic and spicy), her communication to me is intercepted, logged by the the protocol, and out of my hands. Meanwhile, if i were to store these images, on my server, i can ensure that they won't be taken from my server, unless someone has my special info, which includes more than just the information to connect, because I also have a "user security level" layer of protection, as well as the files would remain encrypted if i felt the woman cared that much. Uncle Sam likely doesn't care about a bunch of titty pics from adults, so there's no reason for her to be concerned, unless the protocol she sends them through is particular insecure (which is her own fault for choosing that protocol). Parties that would be interested (someone who wants to see the woman's pics, someone who wants to make a dirty site, etc) don't have the capabilities of getting them from my server and getting them in a usable format.

In other words, google, GOG, the NSA, and the CIA (i'd say facebook does, but their advertisements and crappy attempts to use sex appeal to get my friends list fuller indicate that they don't) know what entertains me, but you don't. You can hide from google, but not the NSA and CIA, so if you're really concerned if they know much about you, just off yourself, because they have eyes and ears everywhere. There is stuff you can hide from them, but you cant hide everything.
Why would I even want to hide from the National Soup Association?

That`s a dumb comment. Talk about going over the top.

I don't sweat it. I despise the peeps that run the "security" and "finance" sector, because I despise the fascism that operates on both sides of the Left-Right political dichotomy. And I've learned to love disruptive technology like blockchain, because it might help to bury these cunts once and for all.

I used to think so, too, back when everyone was freaking out about the microphones in samsung TVs being used by government agencies. And then there was vault 7, and for once in my life, i had to apologize to people who predicted something more dastardly than i had imagined.

I worry about interception and man-in-the-middle attacks. Honestly, we need to accept alternative DNS authorities. I have a few ideas for very simple-to-implement-and-use DNS redirectors that would stop stuff like Microsoft's underhanded tactics that screw over people that have nothing to do with microsoft.
