It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

it took me TWO hours to login to my gog account today, all because of this captcha malware!
and today has not been the first time having trouble with captcha malware blocking my login!
"puzzles" are not working, "try it again", multiple endless new appearing tiles, all not working.
then i have to wait because of "unusual traffic from my computer network" and so on... i hate it!
seriously, why is there still no antivirus solution against this captcha-threat? it's 2018 already!!!

You keep using that word, I do not think it means what you think it means.
I have never had that much trouble logging into GOG. What the hell are you doing that would make doing a captcha thing that difficult?

Also, antivirus solution? You are needlessly whining.

Constructive criticism is great and all but that is not what I saw from the OP.
I think the only captcha I've encountered here is the one for redeeming codes (I'm guessing to combat lurker bots)
Well, maybe you could go contact google with your complaints of your failure to understand the context of the question asked.
I agree, the test is ridiculous. A login screen already asks for both a username and a password, two pieces of information. If that information is entered correctly, then the extra test to ensure a person (instead of automated software started by a person) is entering the information doesn't stop an actual person who shouldn't have the username and password. A person who has it is going to get in.

OTOH, if automated software is running, then it likely has a person sitting in front of it waiting for success with the login or password. So that's probably why they would use a CAPTCHA test for every single attempt rather than only when login is successful, to make more work for a person going through failed attempts, too.

However, that can be offset by simply rerouting the CAPTCHA to people who don't even know what is going on. They are hired to just complete whatever puzzle pops up on their screen, without them needing to know where it comes from. Or it's just a game to them (perhaps a mobile game on a phone), or participation in a "research study". Then the solution chosen by a person is re-routed to the login attempt being done by the automated software.

What seems to me to be the tried and true approach to prevent repeated attempts at guessing username and password is to lock the account after a specific number of failed attempts, such as maybe three or five. That has worked fine because people can reset their password by means of their email. They receive a link to a secure page on the website to create a new password. No extra tests for the legitimate person of the account. No extra tech support required for the company, it's still automated.

But then again, in this case this is GOG, it is a game store. If you can't make it past the puzzle to login, then the games are probably too much for you to handle anyway. (Except maybe for the visual novels.) At least, that's going to be my excuse next time I ever get that CAPTCHA thing, because those tests are so faulty for me they have never worked on the first few attempts.

So, the next time I see a CAPTCHA while logging in on this website will likely be my last time because I'll likely fail, and I'm not interested in passing a test to spend money.

Just for your information the captcha isn't presented if you don't log i think more than 2 or 3 times per 24h (could be wrong for the period of time).

Secondly if you log-off but don't close the browser, some informations are stored till you close it (well depends also your browser settings), so in this case the captcha isn't used either.

Lastly, if i agree often those captcha are awfull, but GOG isn't the worst store which uses captcha. Humble Store "abuse" much more of it....

But, yes i agree with those ridiculous pictures....looking at Goggle...>.>

And as stated above, the only moment when you are forced to use a captcha everytime is when you redeem a code.

as i'm using firefox which is a massive ram eater, i have to quit and restart browser every two hours to get ram back.
and of course after every browser start i have to login again everywhere. fact is, these captchas are massive every time.
have to click multiple tiles, not just three or four, over at least five pages OR have to wait ages for new tiles to appear.
some are unsolvable. although having solved these "puzzles" i have to repeat that sht because something was "wrong".
this time (minutes before posting this second post), there was only one "fail" although having clicked all correct tiles.
so in my eyes captchas are not meant to block robots, they are meant to block real humans from accessing account.
captchas are very much ANNOING and wasting and KILLING TIME. which makes them malware.

Don't clear cookies, then it should be fine. I haven't had to re-login in years. And also captcha uses some cookie mechanism to prevent it to ask you the same stupid stuff over and over again. Then it's just a simple checkbox.
I don't know what people do... I have to "solve" captchas only when redeeming gift-codes, and even then I usually get them right at least on the second try...

If you have a hard time solving the picture puzzle - try audio captcha instead.
