Magmarock: Take this very thread for example. Look at the amount of people going off topic; accusing me of trolling, and just trying to sabotage this very discussion. All over a pretty harmless suggestion in all honesty. Some users seem to think I'm trying to bring fourth the end of free speech or something; over a two paragraph request for a little law and order.

markrichardb: Sifting back through the thread, I think GoGers have been more than accommodating on this matter. I'm sorry (I'm not sorry) you feel every post doesn't meet the exacting standards set forth by your opening words which invite about as much discussion as a pot noodle, but if you’re expecting people to just sign your silly wishlist and keep their mouths shut, you were destined for disappointment.
What he really means is this...

If you don't like it... fuck off!
And no feature-wishlist-suggestion thread would be complete without the appropriate counter-wish. So here it is:

http://www.gog.com/wishlist/site/dont_moderate_the_forum_more

Get your collective butts over there and let the GOGs know, that they are doing fine with the moderation on the moderation and that we like the place as it is.

Lifthrasil: The only thing this forum truly lacks is a good search function!
Believe me, that is not the only thing the forum lacks. Features and functionality wise it is extremely archaic unless you use Barefoot Essentials which I don't yet.

viperfdl: I would be a good moderator. And I would also get a fitting avatar for this job:

tinyE: Bullshit! You'd make a terrible moderator and I can't believe you have the nerve to coocxvfvf.........uhhhhh......I ech I cccc
I....my throat.....I.....as rfbagrra;l
Bah, chocking is for sissies. I would do this!

Why? It really helps. And yes, I agree, without the Essentials this forum is lacking quite some other features besides the search function.
In a way I like it as it is since it gives everyone a certain freedom of speech, it isn't without it's flaws though. Some comments go overboard though, the other thing is the bot spam.

Only thing I dislike about moderators is when they treat others like children.

I know it really helps but part of the reason is that GOG uses it as an excuse not to do a single thing to improve the forum functionality including the easily abused rep system. As great as Barefoot Essentials is, its not ideal to expect every forum member to install scripts to be able to utilize basic features that are supposed to be common on any forum

timppu: As some mentioned, there actually is some moderation, but it is pretty lax. They usually lock a thread only if someone is linking to pirate sites, or if someone says "shit" three times. Oh right, and they also banned that Babaji guy. I haven't seen him around lately.
I've been called quite many names on this board (especcially by Mr. Delarge but also others) and in fact thought, that there is no moderation at all atm. oO
To be honest, considering the lack of moderation. I think this forum has held up a lot better than other would of. Though there is still the problem with tinyE.

triple_l: i'm against it
we already have plenty of forums that moderate
this is the beauty of GOG, they are different, they are special
and besides freedom of speech goes with DRM-Free

btw i sometimes feel angry about many things i see here, specially the steam supporters agressive defense of their system, but there is no other way, you have to accept others points of view

Magmarock: Most sites have moderation for a reason. The biggest reason I think GOG should have moderation is because so much of it is community driven. The GOG forums isn't 4chan nor “a voice for all” community forum. It's meant to be a place where consumers can have discussions would make using GOG better. This is getting harder to do.

Take this very thread for example. Look at the amount of people going off topic; accusing me of trolling, and just trying to sabotage this very discussion. I hope I'm wrong but you're not suggesting a moderator should stop people from going off topic right?

Being able to go off topic keeps discussions interesting.

I like to think so. You learn some strange shit sometimes that makes it all worth it.
