tinyE: Well that's different. You're an annoying freak and no one likes you. :D

OKAY EVERYONE SEE THAT, WHAT I JUST POSTED?
spudius knows I am a good friend and I am just messing with him and not only is he welcome to fire back at me but the more harsh the comeback the more my respect and admiration for him will grow. Your average Mod however doesn't see any of that, they just see 'abuse' which would immediately come with a warning and or ejection.
Fuck . I automatically clicked on the minus button . :p

Just kidding .

By the way : None of us would be a good forum moderator .

Or people just like the forum like it is, which you seem to be unwilling to accept. I like that it is only softly moderated, and contrary to what you said, you can have very extended discussions about failings of GOG or certain games here. Sure, there will always be opposing opinions. Like most oppose your opinion here. But that is part of discussions and should be.

Or to formulate it somewhat more provocatively: if you don't like the forum any more, why stay? Forum participation is not mandatory to buying games. You can join some moderated community (Steam forum, perhaps?) which suits your preferences. There really are plenty of fora for everyone. Why try to change one that runs perfectly well and is liked in the way it is by most participants?

The only thing this forum truly lacks is a good search function!

There is no search function; just headaches.

I could be a good moderator too. Because I wouldn't do anything. So nothing would change. :-)

Maybe people do like the forum setup the way it is. I can't rightly say what other people want. I can only speak for myself. However, with Galaxy and the GOG user base expanding, I also think forum moderation is going to be more likely. With an expanding user base and free membership, I think moderation is must have to prevent it from turning into 4chan. I can't say I've had the best experience with the GOG fourms. I wouldn't be asking for this, if I didn't think it was a good idea.

Yet, if you silence the nuts then this place stops becoming fun.

Magmarock: Take this very thread for example. Look at the amount of people going off topic; accusing me of trolling, and just trying to sabotage this very discussion. All over a pretty harmless suggestion in all honesty. Some users seem to think I'm trying to bring fourth the end of free speech or something; over a two paragraph request for a little law and order.
Sifting back through the thread, I think GoGers have been more than accommodating on this matter. I'm sorry (I'm not sorry) you feel every post doesn't meet the exacting standards set forth by your opening words which invite about as much discussion as a pot noodle, but if you’re expecting people to just sign your silly wishlist and keep their mouths shut, you were destined for disappointment.

We've had these arguments ever since 2008, and while the discussion quality has certainly dropped since then, it seems to have sort of stabilized with a growing user base, not the other way around.

I said it time and time again, and I will repeat it to the end of time: Offtopic discussions were the most interesting I've had on these boards. Discussion doesn't always flow the way you want it to, but it tends to flow the way community wants it to. Take a guess which one of the two is more important.
