So the main reason I have always purchased games on GOG over Steam (even if they might be a little more expensive on GoG at times) - was one very simple reason.
I can't not STAND when I launch a game, and something else (say for example, STEAM) opens up FIRST and then I need to launch my game from THERE just to start the game.
Normally because I typically purchase older games, that required DOS to run - I never ran into the issue when I downloaded the stand alone installers.
Lo and behold, I bought The Witcher 3: Game of the Year Edition, downloaded the stand alone installers, expecting the same behavior - and BOOM - it installs GOG Galaxy. I thought that was odd, so I uninstalled GOG Galaxy, tried to launch the game - it tanks. Reinstall the game, launch it - and lo and behold - GOG GALAXY loads up and I am forced to click PLAY from there.
If this is a feature of future, modern games, I will resume seeking the original games rather than purchasing them through here or Steam. It's perhaps trivial, but enough of an annoyance to drive me away from purchasing anything that has GOG GALAXY shoved down our throats.
I believe that games that require to have GOG GALAXY as a part of the launch should be NOTED in the description for requirements of the game - so that those of us (as few - is it just me?) who avoid it know not to purchase it.
