Orkhepaj: then dont moderate those , easy
Imo staff should only moderate the serious issues and posts that need it.....and people should stay out of topics they dislike(or filter them via the aforementioned extensions).

It would certainly make the staff's job easier(so they could maybe actually do a better job of modding posts that actually need to be modded) & the board more enjoyable for more people, at any rate.

Lifthrasil: That's funny. I never tried that, but it sounds like something GOG would do.
*has sub-forum that only consists of old threads*
*replying to one of those is automatically necroing...*
Yeah a few staffers here have a real issue with necroing old threads...they even told me(and likely others) that it's better(in their eyes) to make new threads in some cases.

yes , just put a report button in and if enough reports it then the staff can look at it and decide
and if some use it for other purposes those should get a ban, pretty quickly we would get a good forum

What a good idea: which is why I bet GOG won't ever implement it

(and because it would take time and money, of course....which GOG seems to want to invest more into galaxy atm)

Oh yes, an un-moderated forum allowing politics discussion, what could go wrong....

Remove really bad posts that get reported, and lock threads if they turn bad.....also mod any users that get very out of hand(in part to get everyone else in line).....simple, and would likely bring the board in line and keep it that way.
(barring the rare troublemaker that they could also mod)

edit: in case you might want to say something like it being too much work for mods:

1. They hardly do any modding here as is(besides a thread here and there, or some posts now and then).
2. That's why we now have multiple CMs, to handle the extra load if there is any.

For quite a long time nothing went wrong!

Then gamergate and the 2016 US election and a bunch of other things happened and the "inner darkness" bubbled up.

In such a setup, people would still be able to make posts on topics as long as they didn't get too out of hand, so free speech would be maintained...even with such modding.

(As in: you could post mostly what you wanted, as long as you weren't too out of hand while doing so)

Also, the current system just outright disallows certain topics.....so such a system as I suggested would be MORE free.

IMHO, much more important than split the general forum is to bring atention to game subforuns, like a side banner with recent posts (only 1 per game). They are dead and any question will get no response for months, due lack of visibility. The only exceptions are recently launched games and the WitcherPunk 2077 alikes.

You mean all 3000+ of them? Or just the most recent/popular ones?

Frustrated indie hacks go REEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeee

They are still trying to use minorites as their shield to this day which must really be quite offensive for those groups.

No wonder there was an attempt to spam up those gamergate threads to stop them being exposed further.

Like many foruns have, a side banner with something like the most recent 10 or 20 posts. There is no point in more than 1 per game as any CyberWitcher game would spamm those entries.
People could see some interesting thread title or a question about a game they know particulary well and participate. At this moment you have to search for the game to actually see the threads.
This is why there is so many misplaced threads on the General forum asking for help on some games and totally understand since I would do the same. Posting anything in dedicated game foruns is useless.

Well, those are my 3.1416 cents anyway...
