noir_7: I'm indifferent weather a game is old or new here, the draw to me is that gog doesn't sell
broken games that I'm supposed to figure out how to make them run on a modern system.
Unlike Steam.
steam has too many win2k and older games, i noticed that aswell, but gamersgate ahs a whole bunch of old games, the sad thing is most games arent avaialble anywhere else, and these are drm free, some need a securom but most old games are drm free, thats why its so said there are so many win98 games, 75% wont work, so basically they should not be offering them,
A for steam, the only 'good' thing about steam ( one thing only) is that almost every point and click game seems to be available , especially the latest releases, like nelly cootalot fowl fleet...
plus they take risks that games wont be sold , i have seen hundredsa of games that have a negative rating and not because of crashes, the weird thing is: these were greenlighted.
So basically the steam users vote for a game, sometimes nag for games , but latron steam is filled with negative and lots of mixed reviews and thats weird cause that should not be possible because 'the people' choose the games .
Anyway, its also good that 'underdog' games are avaialble, i was able to get me some nice casual games, that dont seem to sell much , but they offer it anyway, and that is a plus.
WarlockLord: Personally I'm all for having newer/indie games on here that never had disc releases. If I'm going to buy some old game in a digital edition, it had better either be one that's hard to find actual discs of, or have something extra added to the re-release (Something actually special, like the Strife Veteran Edition, not just "DOSBoxed for dummies").
JDelekto: You should take a look at the
Internet Archive, many of them you can play from the safety of your own modern Web browser.
takezodunmer2005: Also, this, as I value gog as a steam killer....Though gog connect is a great step in the right direction!
JDelekto: Actually, these days, Steam *is not* DRM, it's a means to an end, a way to get your digital download, just as GOG Galaxy is to get your purchases here.
...and if you're in the market for VR content, you're in for two worlds now, SteamVR, and Oculus Home. However, some VR games have made their way onto GOG. Choose wisely.
Bermuda Syndrome (old platformer) is a good game, i got it at releas on retail cd.
16bit so it's a no go on 64bit machines, but, using the filemanager thing from win 3.11 or something you can tinker with it and make it work since the pc is fast enough it will run the filemanager and the game under it, but i rather have the game fixed and be on GoG cause i dont want to think how i can make old games work, i want to play them.
