Has anyone noticed they are taking pre-orders and have only announced FIVE GAMES! :P

How the hell do I know I won't get stuck with those five and fifteen pieces of shit!?
Better just to pick up a used PSP for like $40 and play all the PS1 classics your heart desires that way.

Unless of course a big screen and multiplayer is a must for you.
Huh, so at least now we know why PS1 classics never came to the PS4.
I got one preordered on the logic of "well, this is sony's first classic and I think supply will be bought by scalpers so I better buy now". I also THINK there will be dualshock controllers for purchase after release-sony would be a little stupid not to include them. At worst, adaptors exist. The odds on it being hackable I say are good. The odds on the USB ports being usable for data... not so much (probably need something like the solutions for the Nintendo classics). The Nintendo classics are cash cows not because of the 20 or 30 games but because you can do MORE with them than just play 30 games (hence why scalpers were selling the orginial NES classics for high prices)-I've seen retroarch mentions for amiga, PS1, gameboy/color/advanced and more.

Or better yet, rip PS1 game CDs and play them in an emulator.
I'm not that interested in the ps1 classic. But if it includes dragon quest VII and FF9 I just might be interested. I can't seem to find DQ7 anywhere.
Sony needs to stop teasing and release the full games list.
Ape Escape

...Wait.

Lin545: Like the Nintendo Classic Mini, this is a mere attempt to cash-out on "brand".
These devices have little value as they do not associate with what they are trying to represent (*) and their long-term value will decline rapidly. Basically you will be much better building the retroconsole yourself, with additional benefit of it having standard ports and standard (read: cheap) hardware parts. And Logitech joysticks are pretty good.

* not original hardware, but emulator inside
* not accepting original disks/cartridges, but integrated ROM

What Sony and Nintendo could do differently - is to reborn the original classic platform, but with new components, new interfaces, whilst supporting the very same standards; kind of "classic" direction. This means proper hardware, proper slot system - but also means that it will cost the company much more for production, and also for support. Such hardware would have much higher aftermarket value, because it sticks to the original family. And this is where they depart from what consumers want, they do not want to invest - they want to cash out.
I think even the raspberry pi3 is strong enough to run ps1 games, very cheap and easy to set up

Is it true this PS mini isn't even coming with AC adapter?

Hell, you mod a PSP, and you can play your CD rips in the same emulator the PSP uses for classics.

The lineup is up... and is not as good as I'd like.

Ok I am gonna say it.

That is a very shitty list.

Where's the other Final Fantasy games? And Resdient Evil 1 Original? And not Resident Evil 2 or 3?!

And where is Symphony of the Night? Parasite Eve? Tomb Raider? Legend of the Dragoon?

There are plenty of games are more derseving then Jumping Flash and Destruction Derby :P

Three, as I recall. Although I would guess it could take notably less space since you don't have to repeat a lot of the contents that had to be present on every disc (basic controls, menu system, battle system including attack animations, locations you could revisit, much of the music etc.).

Dragon Quest VII is available on the Nintendo 3DS:

FF IX is set to be released on the Nintendo Switch in 2019:

Not the best list, but at least it has some games that are not present on the Playstation Store.
