nightcraw1er.488: How good are they at resisting:
Being thrown at the wall
Being covered in beer
Being used as an ashtray

Well, they are what happens to the first psx we had.
someone actually gave me theirs. :P Had one game, Legacy of Kain, but no memory card which kind of made it unplayable.

NOW, if they include LOK in this I will be standing it line to buy it.

LoK is never coming back, sadly. I have it for PC, and I still play it from time to time.

Crosmando: Only 20 games is pretty poor, also this is 3D emulation so who knows how smoothly the games will even play, and if input lag will be a problem. It's almost guaranteed that it won't have all the graphical bells and whistles that ePSXe emulation has for example. Also I saw something on 4chan /v/ that said it will only be 720p max resolution, not sure if it's true though.
They probably didn't want to put too big of a storage media on it. If you think about it, 20 CD ISO's, if you are assuming every game is on one CD, already makes 13 gigabytes. Another thing is, that the licensing costs might bet pretty hefty with this, considering they have Final Fantasy and Gran Turismo among other pretty notable games still going on today.
i always thought Duel Shock was a gimmick. Had one for a few years and while I didn't hate it, I would have been perfectly fine with a regular one.
The original Playstation is one of my all-time favorite consoles, but unless they include a whole bunch of games like Jade Cocoon and Grandia that sell for ~$20-30 used, there's no way of justifying this thing. Especially with those awkward stickless controllers.

But I'll be tempted if they find a way to replicate the sounds the original console made when reading discs. That's the only part of the PS1 experience that emulation fails to capture.
Too rich for my blood, honestly.
I was gonna make a joke about how Sony copied Nintendo yet again and then I learn that, just like the Nintendo Minis, it will also be missing an AC adapter.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Slam both companies all you want, but that's due to EU regulations, actually.

I know that the PlayStation was often called PSX, but it amused me to learn (many years ago now) that Sony had later made a device actually called that.
Now that's just silly. Awkward gameplay and fugly low-res 3D. Just because something is old doesn't mean it's still good today.
Anyone want to post a gamelist here? This could be pretty epic if it includes some of the classic platformer and Final Fantasy games.

PS2 one would be pretty excellent for JRPGs as well.

I don't think the full list is out, or at least I haven't seen it.

The only games I've seen confirmed are: Final Fantasy VII, Jumping Flash, Ridge Racer Type 4, Tekken 3, and Wild Arms.

None of those games particularly interest me. But, they were pretty popular.

The mid-90s were really awkward as far as gaming goes. The graphics really haven't aged well when compared with the last '80s and early '90s where the only real graphic quality issues come from being too small for modern TVs.

Gameplay is still just as good and in sometimes better. I remember Quake running at barely 20fps at times even less. But, these days, it's trivial to get it running at 60+fps.

Thanks!

I *might* have been thinking more of PS2 when it came to some of the "big" games I was hoping for.
