rtcvb32: but on steam there's no installation and license accepting step

BrandeX: Yes there is. Not many games use it.
Oops, my mistake. Never saw it myself...

They have to provide written notice that the source code is available upon request. Do they do that?

Nope.

Also, apparently somebody will be doing an article on this company, so they may be more legit than we think.

vicklemos: And there I was, hoping SOMEONE could release commercial console games legally on the pc :(
Sega's been doing that for years!
Here is the article from TechRaptor-

I at least hope they don't charge for the emulators and games. Emulation has always been FREE, from the very fist moment it begun. If they do, it's a shame and everyone should prefer the emulator, bios files and roms downloaded independently from Steam, which is better regardless, since this type of clients hounds and restricts the gamer in many ways. Emulation of PS2 is very advanced as of late, too.

I don't know and i don't care if anyone considers emulation piracy, owning the games legit or otherwise, but i and the pirate federation, certainly DON'T. And we bash the selling of emulated games at every chance, at every turn. DON'T contribute into the shoveling of the good old gaming branch, called EMULATION. Don't feed the crooks. Don't buy that which you can get for free. Don't give them reasons to close down webpages dedicated to roms and emulators and even legalize their behavior (since they are selling and making profit).

Emulation must survive unscathed and unsoiled. Keep it SHARK-FREE, everyone.

*other than SEGA! :)

And SEGA? If only they'd listen to us, classic gamers, who'd love to play some serious Saturn, MD and Dc games on our loved pcs...

They've done plenty of DC ports - Jet Set Radio, Sonic Adventure etc.
Possibly the problem with Saturn is that it's a bitch to emulate because the hardware was pretty complicated, which made it a bitch to dev for in the first place...

Don't wanna go all off-topic, and I know SEGA cares a little more about the DC. But it could be so much more interesting, so many great titles... if they at least had the effort to bring us more DC diversity, since Saturn is abandoned (well we had a Guardian Heroes port on xbla and there's the Radiant Silvergun out there, too) these days.
But there will come a day where I'll play, properly (no no gametap señor) classics like Panzer Dragoon, Burning Rangers and Metropolis: Street Racer on nowadays hardware! :D

The original Panzer Dragoon? There WAS a PC version
http://www.mobygames.com/game/panzer-dragoon
Although I could never get it working, even on XP...

Metropolis Street Racer could be an issue in that the original Project Gotham was basically a re-make of it and MS owned that as a flagship XBox title / series (shame it died, really)

Just off hand, didn't that require some odd video card? i could have SWORN that LGR did a video on that... a while ago, something about how they wanted to do process [s]squares[/s] quads rather than triangles to get better performance...

edit: Wrong card, updated link

*Panzer Dragoon Saga :P
And yep, I'm a huge fan of the MSR game and the 1st Project Gotham on xbox. Didn't play the later ones, actually.
What I meant was that we need something like the Wii Virtual Console (MD/SMS/SNES/NES/arcade/Turbografx/C64) on the pc, but with Saturn and DC. Not remakes or enhanced ones - much like the Ikaruga port/Radiant Silvergun/Sonic Adventures and so on -, but instead good ol' emulation, just as seen on the Steam N20 game! :P

Can emulators even run DC a descent speeds though? I'm imaging an entire bunch of Steam kids moaning that old games don't run smoothly on their relatively new PCs and complaining that they're 'not optimised' or whatever...

You're on GOG and you're complaining about emulation. Dosbox, Scummvm do a good job of that on a lot of this websites games.

I think typical emulation requires 200x more powerful hardware than what you're emulating. So if you have a good rig, it will probably run okay. If not then JIT or similar optimizations might lower the requirements, but otherwise i'm not sure.

Actually as a note, i'm sorta hoping someone will make a PCI card that includes a bunch of older chips so we can pass emulation software through the real processors, which would greatly simplify and speed up a bunch of this stuff instead of being all software.
