..and I have this nice feeling of nostalgia and a little story to share with you. That was a time when I had a little story about almost any game I played back then. You all know that time when there was no internet and you had to buy games in stores, borrow or pirate them. It was cool because there was really something that you can connect to the game - a feeling, a memory or even a smell. Yeah, smell associations with games are a thing. Now it's only a few clicks, but enough of that. It was 2004 and I had no PC, at the time the so called computer gaming clubs were still very popular. Many people were not able to buy PCs or consoles (consoles never were really that popular here actually, except NES) so they hanged out at places like that. There was an option to pay for a night and I did that a couple of times. One time I payed for a night and I played Shade. I was 15 then. The funny thing about these "nights" that there was no staff to stay with the customer and they had to lock you in. I had to fool my mom that it's ok and a lot of people are also there so she could let me go. That night I was locked in alone, the club was located in the cellar of a multi-storey building btw. So I played this oh so great game at night, in the dark, locked cellar all night long with my pants almost wet. That was really a creepy looking cellar with no toilet, poor lightning and lots of water pipes. Aaand the pipe cracked, slow flooding started, but even I was afraid of the flood and the game I continued to play until dawn. I almost beat that game in one night, but didn't. A year or so later I finally got me a PC and beat that game at home. Loved it! All the games I played then were somehow great no matter how shitty they were lol. Now a few days back I got this strange feeling of crave, this need to replay the game I played 12 years ago, brain started to fill with thoughts and memories about it and at last, what a relief! I finally playing it now. It is indeed a crappy game, but oh so great at the same time. It's dark, moody, grim, a bit creepy, a bit gory, atmospheric, clunky, shitty and awesome.

I encourage you to check it out at the web and give it a wish if you like. Would be cool to see it here on gog.
I even wrote them (developer) a letter asking them to check the GOG out so let's see what happens.

Looks pretty cool, voted.

For the PC era, I remember spending months mapping out the ultima games (5 upwards). Going round each town drawing it out, and the dungeons, and back in those days you got a cloth map and other bits and pieces in the box which were great to have lying around. You are right, lots of memories of that time.
What happened to the building with the cracked water pipe?

I remember playing that game in 2004 or 2005, I was thought it was really cool (14-15 back then too) but I never finished it. I reinstalled it I think a year ago, it was interesting to play it again but ugh..that combat, I can't stand action games like that anymore but the setting was interesting. I remember those monks and there was something special with a sword.

There's a scary adventure game about a shadow I played at that time that I never found out, I always think of Shade instead, don't know why..

Every game is like a gift from heaven back then.

You should take a trip one day (preferably during the night) and take a look, maybe you'll have another adventure. :)
Well, this is interesting. Turns out I never played Shade at all judging from the prologue and intro. The game I mistook it for was Archangel, released in 2002 by JoWood. Turns out I have another old game to play that I know nothing about thanks to the OP. :D

Nice :) I was thinking about a "shadow" game you mentioned earlier. Could that be Shadow Man 1999?

No. All I remember is that you are in a modern city, probably London and you enter a house and there's a shadow (a character I think) creeping around that I think show up and you begin to talk to it. I wasn't scared even at that age but it's definitely creepy and I really enjoyed the atmosphere of the little I played. I've been trying to find it using MobyGames but their advanced search isn't advanced enough (it's really annoying you can't specify periods, only specific years or all of them for example).
Sadly i never played this game even though i own it from bravo screenfun, might give it a chance one day.
The thing is sometimes puzzles scare me away from games even though i still do them mostly. On a screenshot it said something about a puzzle.

I'm sorry but I don't recall the game you describe.

It's mostly combat oriented action and a bit of platforming. Puzzles are very few and simple.

For some reason I thought maybe it was Evil Twin.. but now that I watched that, I don't think so anymore.
