So I don't know why I start a topic like this, maybe because I had to many beers.
I often feel lonely because I have no one to play games with, in fact, I have no one to not play games with, neither, so yeah :(
When I was younger my cousin always played games with me, like Silent Hill, Pizza Connection, Might and Magic and so on, but now she doesn't visit me anymore or twice a year because she is only busy with her boyfriend and her studies and if she plays something it's a (in my opinion shitty) game like League of Legends.
I feel like a total loner.
I hate playing video games in multiplayer.
Sitting next to each other, discussing the story and think about strategies together means a lot to me.
I'm extremely sad, playing games alone is o.k. but I it's much more fun when playing together and I don't know how to find someone who would accompany me and it's even more difficult because I only like to play (and are only able to play) older games.
It would be so awesome to have someone around me to play games like Realms of the Haunting and Dark Earth with me.
How do you handle it, do you play games alone or do you have company to play them?

For me, gaming is inherently a unsocial activity. Having another person beside me trying to "direct" my gameplay would probably be annoying now as I'm more focused on the story. Having said that, I do miss the time when we were kids, when my cousin and a friend or two used to play games together. I specifically remember Alone in the Dark 3, where multiple minds were beneficial to puzzle-solving, enabling progress where just one person would get stuck for days. We also used to organise Hot Seat games of HoMM3. I would create a map without any input from others, and then two of my friends would campaign one against the other, and only I knew the secrets of the map.

I haven't played a game with anyone else in a long time. I should probably try it with my only gamer friend sometime.

Growing up I also found great enjoyment watching my father or brother playing games, while I was giving them hints about what to do. Games like Heroes of Might and Magic and adventure games like Monkey Island. Now I play almost exclusively alone and in short bursts, which would explain how I amassed more than 5000+ wins in Hearthstone. Lately I found myself talking with myself as to why I lost a game, or about how lucky the opponent was. First step towards insanity achieved.

I wouldn't call that people I know. :P I would call that people I've met.

If I might ask, why only older games? There are plenty of good newer games, including ones made in the style of classic older games (with varying degrees of faithfulness). These days, I pretty much only play single-player games, and pretty much always by myself. Even back when slip-screen console gaming was big, I struggled to get my friends to play multiplayer games, and most of us have drifted apart since then, anyway. I don't have much interest in playing online with Random Internet Strangers, so...yeah. Solo single-player. Only if you start carrying on conversations with yourself. :P

I dunno you get their names and maybe even a number for legal reasons right? That basically makes you family.

15-10 years ago I played Mario Kart games with family. We didn't have games when we were kids, we got game systems when I was about 15. The family doesn't otherwise play games though.

Some years ago I discovered MMORPGs, and for about two years I managed to find some friends but during the last year or two they have mostly disappeared. It used to not be so lonely before that.

I play those games on multiple accounts and I type random commentary about things now and then in party chat... alone...

Some time ago I played Resident Evil 6 for a bit and kept talking to Leon.

:P I actually do, because I try to calm myself while loudly rationalizing why I lost.

Sometimes I play games alone, sometimes I'll watch my partner play something, sometimes me and my partner will jump on a game and go head to head or join the same team and fight together. We've been playing lots of Street Fighter 4 and Hero Siege lately with some Insurgency here and there. Last night I watched them play Saints Row 2 and we just talked through it all. It all just depends on the day :]

Before I was in a relationship, I never really thought about it I suppose.
