Virama: I use a Canon 5D Mark II. 21.1 megapixels - due to the fact that I sell prints online.

For now, here is my website

LENS ARE EVERYTHING.
Ah, Australia, the country with blue skies most of the time and great nature. I envy you guys. Over here, in "humidity is king" country, when we finally get blue skies and great looking skies, the weather is exceedingly hot.

Nice photos btw.

hedwards: What sorts of photos are you into?
I already have a Nikon D90. I was just teasing Stuff. :)
Some nice pictures posted in this thread. I´m always enjoying to look at the pics taken by other photographers :) I´ll post some of my pics too: http://picasaweb.google.com/filipdase85
All pictures taken with either Fujifilm S6500, Fujifilm E900 or Olympus E-510 with Kit lenses. Macros were taken with the Raynox 250.
*scratch that*

Good for you ! And speaking of that, I'm going to buy a macro lens and a lightbox sometimes this spring. Yay !
I went into our CBD to take some shots yesterday. I was lucky, lucky enough to shoot some lightning shots:

Probably waited for 25-30mins to catch the first one

These are SUPERB.

What f-stop and ISO speed did you use, let alone shutter speed?

Thanks man! :)

First one is 8 seconds over f13, ISO 200.
Second one 13 seconds over f13, ISO 200.

Wait, wait.... You mean THIRTEEN SECONDS, not 1/13???? Wow.
Thumbs up cw8. What is the name of that banana building ?

Yeah 13 seconds exposure, mounted on tripod.
I don't like taking night shots with high ISOs. In fact I try avoiding high ISOs if possible. So, if possible, I always bring a tripod for night shots.

So I kept pressing the shutter, each shot for 8-13 seconds until the lightning struck the place where my camera was pointed at. Could have set it on Bulb exposure, but that would overexpose the buildings.

I was looking at the lowest price I have found to date on the D90's and then I found the D7000. I haven't read an independent review on it but it sounds GREAT !!! . . . =)

Edit : Although way, WAY more than I want to spend O_o

I don't know much about Nikon as I've been using Canon all the time.
So which DSLR models fall under the Pro, Semi-Pro and Consumer brands for Nikon.
I only know that the Nikon D3s is the mothership equivalent to Canon 1D Mark IV.

Also contemplating whether to get the Tamron 18-270mm lens. I already have the Ultra Wide Sigma 10-20mm, a Canon 50mm f1.8 prime and the Canon 18-135mm kit lens. I just need something more of a reach than the 135mm. It's been a pain in the ass trying to shoot the bird that keeps singing outside my flat or butterflies in the park with the 135mm, everytime I go close to them, they fly off. I reckon something close to 300mm is probably better for stuff like that. Also the 18-270mm makes for good travel lens or GP usage. If I ever travel in the near future.
