I always thought, that Elfenlied was excellent for showing that true drama and deep psychological wounds are worse than the most grim physical violence and oh boy it has lots of both.

The second time I've seen the series was actually in a cinema where a big anime-board managed to persuade the owners, that they can watch it in exchange for everyone in the audience having to buy something from the counter for at least a few €. It was in the season when cinemas are rather empty so a win/win situation for everyone.
I just wished they wouldn't have used the German audio and kept it subtitled.
