Speaking of calming voices, Crews is pretty good at commentary in Fallout 4.

Charon121: Or anyone with a calm voice who doesn't swear, say stupid things or react emotionally.
Do check out Zemalf as well. One of the calmest voices I've heard.
I think they attract two different demographics though. Kids and teens love Felix, some adults too.
I really can't see DSP attracting the same crowd.

Even though I don't like PewDiePie's presentation and gaming he seems like a really nice guy in person.
A few years ago, I toyed with the idea of making Let's Play videos where I purposefully act like a completely clueless idiot (whether or not it would've been original even then, I don't know). But now that I'm watching this, I realize that would have been a really, really stupid idea. The video doesn't have comedic value - it only makes you question why someone that utterly dumb would decide to even do gaming Youtube videos. So, first time I hear of this 'DSP', but already I can tell I would never, ever regularly watch his gameplay.

Crosmando: I think anyone who watches other people play games instead of playing games themselves is a fucking moron.
Its for whether deciding you want to purchase the game or not they said.

Watching a playthrough is so much more better then hearing a paid off review.
Both are equally horrible.

l0rdtr3k: THE worst Let's Player ever.Search on Youtube for "This is how you don't play..." and you'll see several compilations to his failures in video gaming.
So he’s the Irate Gamer of this generation?
Hate leads to suffering.
Suffering leads to being a complete idiot.

I'm sure you'll recognise yourself in the above two lines.

You should really, really watch his playthrough of Witcher 2. It caused quite a stir back in the days in these very forums.
WTH is this thread about?
Are those those guys who 12 year olds watch because they can't move their mouses good enough and send them their parents' hard earned money? If yes, I'd say its a shitty new way to make money by using easily gullible kids and they both pointless bottom of the barrel people. Get a real job.

I'm sure I recognise one giant Star Wars fanboy goofball at least.

A lot of let's play videos seem more to me like 'let's listen to this guy's verbalised ego while, by sheer coincidence he's playing this game'.

I don't like those.

While I get the gist of your post, Pewdiepie is now a multimillionaire if I'm not mistaken. Doubt a 'real job' would've gotten him that far.

Sure, but I'm referring to this new "passive" generation who seem to think watching a game is an adequate replacement for actually playing it. And even so, if you want to watch gameplay, watch gameplay, who would honestly want some annoying person's voice dubbed over the game.

Stop hating hate man. Hate is just as legitimate an emotion as love or any other emotion. Hate can result in positive outcomes if the response is correct. Games like Planescape Torment and more recently Age of Decadence both had developers who openly said their motivation for creating the game was hate, for PST it was hate of common RPG tropes and for AoD it was hate of modern streamlined RPGs.

I only watch playthroughs of old games I don't own that obtaining them is impossible (Warcraft 1 for example)
