I'm going to be honest, the Voodoo cards were still in vogue the last time I was able to keep track of graphics cards. I have a WX 3100 card, and I have no idea, (if any) what an upgrade path from that is. I don't want to buy a hideous gamer card that requires it's own power pipe. I will happily take a sensible, optimized, and stylish workstation card any day over a multiple slot behemoth. And I'd prefer it in the size of a Matrox Millennium 8 MB video card or a Diamond Stealth 3D Accelerator Card.

There are recent cards likely half the length of yours. Sure, you won't get away with a 300/350W PSU but you won't need a nuclear power plant either.

In the 3050, 3060 and 3060TI range look at Asus' phoenix models or MSI's aero models for instance, power requirements should be around 500/550W.

Not saying that they provide an upgrade path for you or even that you need one, just pointing out that it's possible to upgrade without going the "hideous gamer card" route.

Sure, but here's the other problem: Those are just numbers. I don't know if those are Cyraix, AMD, or Nvidia cards. And the latter are right out.

You expressed concerns alluding to size, slot occupation and crazy power reqs of many modern day cards and those are the ones i tried to address in order to point out that upgrading while bypassing those is a possibility.

I have nothing of worth to add in regards to other types of considerations since those are obviously on each of us.

Because you can tell a Honda Civic from a Ford Mustang.

Or would you rather look for a 4310 and a 2254? It's a terrible design philosophy and I have no idea why multiple companies decided to abandon names in favor of numbers.

Because numbers are usually easier to compare, as higher usually (but not always) from the same manufacturer means better (1080 > 1060), compared to words (Maverick <?> Krusher) ...

See, here's the problem, I don't drive, and have no interest in cars.

But just out of interest, since I looked it up, why are all the Honda Civics called the same? Surely the 1972 Honda Civic is not anything like the 2021 Honda Civic? Why is the same name used for a very different car?

That's a very common practice.
There also have been different Mustangs for decades now.

Also my ride shares it's name with it's successor three or four predecessors which were very differnet.

I mean, you say it, but a world where 1660 is inferior to 1080 kind of makes labels totally useless, doesn't it? Nobody can be sure just by looking at names to compare and be sure of anything once one comparison is invalidated.
