You are so generous, guys. :D My personal new year resolution is to stop just playing games, and to start making games that people actually enjoy playing. I've made some simple games on Unity already, but they are just a clunky prototypes. I hope this year I'll make something more substential and complete.

Hurray! *brings "oliebollen" and powdered sugar* I'm glad you said "a few". It's pretty much impossible to choose even after I've arbitrarily limited myself to games I've finished.
* Master of Magic. No list of my favorite games could be complete without this gem. And yes, the gog release uses dosbox and supports Linux out of the box.
I'm struggling a bit here to not interrupt making this list to go play it another time now. Hoping to hold out till I'm done with the post! :D
* Aquaria. An absolutely lovely puzzling exploration game with amazing charm and lovely soundscape. There's some "action adventure" areas in the game, but for the most part it's a thoroughly relaxing experience which I love to bits.
* Shadowrun: Dragonfall - Director's Cut. This was a freebie on gog a couple of years, which introduced me to the genre of these tactical turnbased combat games, of which I've loved many since then. Shadowrun: Dragonfall remains to stand a cut above the rest, though, for its excellent storytelling and superb scenery.
* Transport Fever. I've been surprised how thoroughly this has replaced OpenTTD for me. Sure, it's far from perfect, and lacks competitors (though really, I didn't care much for those in OpenTTD), but it's gorgeous, plays very smoothly, and offers enough to keep me returning again and again. It's in the process of being replaced by Transport Fever 2 (first game I've ever pre-ordered; I felt my support was deserved), with a wealth of quality of life improvements (don't let the negative reviews fool you, below the surface level there's enough changes to be worth the "2" designation), but I promised myself I'd only include favorite games on this list that I've "finished", so for the moment the first one comes along to the party. I will not give in to the temptation to look up things in a wiki when I feel like I'm getting stuck in a game (even though I haven't yet), as I always read more things which I didn't want to know about. This year, I will be strong! This year, I will not give in! I'm in for Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun.

@ciemnogrodzianin Roccat seem to have LInux drivers. So do Ducky and apparently Hyperx Alloy works fine.

There are soooo many Linux games worth mentioning and worth playing. Especially via Adamhm's wrappers, nearly every game worth playing can be played via Linux. But for this entry I focus on one game that is natively Linux and that I celebrated very much upon release:

Overload

Yes, it is THE successor to Descent
and Descent 2, much better than Descent 3 was.

By the way, Descent 1 and 2 are amazing games as well which hold up nicely today. Especially when played through one of the improved engines that are available throughout the internet. There are two notable choices:

Descent Rebirth is just a source port of Descent 1 and 2 to almost all modern systems. Yes, that includes Linux.
Descent 2X XL is a port of Descent 2 with improved graphics, new effects, new weapons and some added mechanics.

Both ports are well worth checking out and both come with a ton of fan-made maps. Both multiplayer maps and amazing single-player campaign that rival the original games in scope and depth. If you don't know these, check them out!

My new-years resolution, as mentioned in the new-years resolution thread is to finally go through with last years new-years resolution. That was to finally go through with the resolution from the year before. Which was... you get the drift. Unfortunately I have long since forgotten what the original resolution was, but I'm open for suggestions.

I'm in for the Pathfinder Kingmaker penguin in the explorer edition. I would give it a good home and make the time to play with it!

I have a nice collection of games (specially after this last Secret Santa event) so far and I don't find fair getting games from giveaways to simply hoard them.

I wanted to drop some recommendation of good games playable on linux, but I couldn't make my mind, so I filtered my GOG library to sort Linux games tagged as "favorite" and here it goes, 19 great titles anyone should play. :)

1. When I used Linux, it wasn't to game (sadly). But if I had gamed while running it, it would've been Legend of Grimrock. While I believe it's got a native port (I remember the developers posting about it a handful of years ago, though whether they did it themselves or if Humble's resident port gremlins were responsible for it I'm unsure) it's on GOG's list and the ./playit list so certainly I'm not just blowing smoke about it. Unfortunately its sequel never got the Linux treatment.

2. I don't really do resolutions but for the sake of abiding by the guidelines... okay. Non-serious end: I'll go back and try to finish Deus Ex: Invisible War even though I know it'll make me want to shot put an elephant through a glass cathedral by crashing and corrupting my save just as I hit the last freakin' stretch of the game at the abandoned VersaLife base again.

3. I'm in (unless disqualified), with Ion Fury I suppose.

1) Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun.
It has the perfect combination of not being too easy but not too hard. The story is simple but good and is much longer than I expected. Definitely a game that I recommend to all people play. In this game a little of the spirit of the commandos series is remembered.
2) My New Year's Resolution is play some games that I haven't played yet and overcome their challenges.
3) The Penguin I'd like to win is Jazz Jackrabbit 1 Collection.

One of my favorite Linux capable games is:
Elder Scrolls 3: Morrowind, with the OpenMW engine re-implementation making it Linux-compatible (it's also on the playit list).

My New Year's Resolution is: put an end to war and poverty, align the planets and bring them into universal harmony, allowing meaningful contact with all forms of life, from extraterrestrial beings to common household pets. And write a text adventure.

1. There are many great Linux games I've played. Shadowrun Dragonfall / Hong Kong, Hollow Knight, Ori and the Blind Forest, Shadow Warrior 2013 to name a few

2. New year resolution would be to finish at least more than one game. This whole 2019 I started many games and only finished one, Ori and the Blind Forest.

3. I'd like to dance with Overload + both DLCs (Community level pack + Anniversary level pack)

BTW while we're at this, are we allowed to request multiple games with total cost under $20 or does it have to be one game? I'm ok with anything. It's just to make searching for games to request easier

One tip for Invisible war. Baton is overpower. Upgrade strength and whatever it is that gives baton EMP attack and you'll only need to use guns at the very last level

Thanks I guess, but I know how to play the game just fine. It's the fact that it's a buggy pile of something unpleasant that crashed hard enough at a point where I was close to completing it that makes me not want to go back and do it all over again.
