I know they cover things like this and when Mafia gets released, but their normal editorial pieces normally exclusively link to Steam.
Read one article which lists 15 games, and almost all link directly to STeam it creates the impression that Steam is the only place to get them.
But its not just one article, almost every article where multiple games are compiled on a theme, Steam links are always given. Occasionally they link to the publishers page, who inevitably only have Steam links too.

Anyway I'm not sure it's a deliberate editorial choice to promote Steam over GOG or the fault of some specific authors.

Well, the same thing happens with RockPaperShotgun. There are even some extreme cases with their Top 50 lists, where you have some games that link to both Steam and GOG and some that only link to Steam even when there is a GOG version available.

well just 17 days ago this same writer did a similar piece on the best space games and he had several links to gog in that one.
his selection of places to link seems somewhat arbitrary and I wouldn't worry about it too much. in this new cyberpunk article, he links to Technobabylon on Steam but links to Gemini Rue on WadjetEye's site.
the lesson to be taken away is if you haven't played WadjetEye's games then you should buy and play WadjetEye's games.

Are there other sites that represent GoG any better?
It's no secret that Steam accounts for a big majority of people's gaming clients. It also seems easier to just give in and use whatever Steam thing for multiplayer. Whereas DRM-free means it's hard as hell to integrate multiplayer.
Please correct me if I'm wrong, I'm not that savvy when it comes to these things.

I prefer nuanced old-school gaming journalism to the hyperbolic lynch mobs that took their place. That they favor Steam is probably because gaming journalism is so nische that they have to pander to the big masses, they can't afford nuance anymore.

Maybe Steam paid them to do the article...a lot of mainstream journalism is biased in one shape or another..
