This sounds like an argument coming directly from some hardware manufacturer. :P
Seriously, the great thing about PC is, that you need one anyway and it's still relatively open (especcially for us Linux users) so you don't get forced to do this and that all the time, can exchange single components, etc.... I'd choose this flexibility over the proprietary DRMed crap on consoles any day and no console game will get me to buy special hardware just for it, I'd rather wait 10-15 years and play it via emulator later at some point or not at all.
Is there even one commercial DRM free console game at the moment?

Besides the fact, that imho all of the current console gamepads are crap compared to my babies.

I mean games that were developed since the release of the 360, it stands to reason that earlier games especially from currently defunct companies will not have native support :)

I have a Saitek P2600 controller. Its now ten years old, but i will use it untill it dont't work anymaore. Its a shame that some newer games only support xinput, so you can only use newer gamepads. I also notice that in many games, you can remap the keyboard inputs to your favor, but not the gamepads. You have cannot change the buttons on the controller and have to play with a configuration that maybe don't fit to your preferences.


And for the modding discussion:
I think almost every PC Game can be modded, even without official Mod Support. Modders find a way to alter their favorite games. Just replacing a texture or change the value of a file and you have modified your game.

Have I got some good news for you.

I currently use an Xbox One controller. It works great and I love the feel, weight, and D pad. Just plug-in and install a driver.

Assassin's Creed 1 and 2. I think the first AC game to actually use Xinput was Brotherhood. With the first two you were much better off using a DirectInput controller.

Does anyone here have a gameboard / gaming keypad like the Logitech G13 or the Razer Nostromo?

I'm fine with using mouse + keyboard for FPS and RTS games and an XBOX controller for jump & run games. If the game is a "dual stick" type of game that requires aiming with my right thumb on the right analog stick, I can't for the love of life get any accuracy whatsoever that way. And using WASD on the keyboard to move around is seriously handicapped compared to analog controls if a top down action game allows you to move in more than 4 directions so using a gamepad or using mouse + keyboard are both unsatisfactory to me. I'd very much prefer to have my right hand on a mouse for aiming precision and my left hand on a gameboard with an analog thumb stick and keys for the other fingers.

Regarding Sturmovik and flight sims in general, I find it seriously braindead to play those with anything other than a joystick (unless it's something like Decent which plays more like an FPS and keyboard + mouse is perfectly good). I did play MS Flight Sim 4.0 and Comanche etc with just a keyboard back in the day but I don't want to go back there, ever... a joystick is so much more sensible and incomparably better. For Sturmovik, I'd say a joystick in the right hand plus gameboard in the left hand (turning head inside the cockpit via thumb stick) seems like the perfect solution.

So anyway, who has a gameboard / gaming keypad and which one would you recommend? They cost quite a bit more than a gamepad so a failed investment would be painful.

You replied to the statement that there are mods for all Mass Effect games with "ME doesn't have mod support". ANY reasonable person would read it as "there are no mods for ME" in that context.

I suggest you re-read my statement, I never said there are no mods.

I guess they appear significantly larger because of the smaller dent on the bottom, but even if it's just a few millimetres here and there, it makes a huge difference in case of devices of that size. Most importantly the X360 controller has a more sophisticated shape that aligns with (most) hands a lot better than the DS3, so it certainly feels much larger. Well, and I guess if you compare the regular white X360 controller with the regular black DS3 it appears even larger because of... you know... eyes and colors and stuff... you know, optics and illusions and shit.

I suggest you stop acting stupid, re-read both your post and the one you replied to and ask yourself what you would have thought if someone else had replied to "there are mods for ME" with "ME has no mod support".
