ResidentLeever: Curse of Monkey Island/Monkey Island 3 (SB)
CoMI is for the most part real instruments and all streaming PCM rather than sample-based.
avatar
F4LL0UT: AdLib / FM Synthesis
Contrary to popular belief this is NOT MIDI music.
It's not not MIDI though. MIDI is a music protocol, not a sound generation method. There's nothing preventing Adlib music from being stored in the MIDI format.

I think there's an option for midi since that upload had an AWE32 version:

Here you go. Enjoy.
ZZT? Although maybe it was a later engine that could use mod/xm music files...

Wow, I had no idea! If this isn't a fan recreation it must have been on the disc for people with (by that time) outdated sound cards.

EDIT: I can find no evidence that there was an AWE32 version. I suspect this is a fan MIDI recreation being played on the soundfont listed in the video description.

Mobygames has listed it as supported:
http://www.mobygames.com/attribute/sheet/attributeId,128/offset,100/so,0a/

Edit; Actually that entry was a collection with the same name, featuring the first three games. So maybe you're right.

Huh, got any links? It (ZZT & Super ZZT) doesn't seem to have any music and only pc speaker sfx.

Yup, I found that and can find nothing to support it which leads me to believe it's a mistake.

Actually, clicking the link that entry was a collection with the same name, featuring the first three games. So maybe you're right.
If you follow the links, it claims the DOS version of CoMI supported AWE32, but there was no DOS version.
When you look down at "alternate titles", you see:

Alternate Titles
"The Monkey Island Bounty Pack" -- UK title
"Monkey Island Collection" -- German title
"Monkey Island Archives" -- Common title
"La Trilogie Monkey Island" -- French Title

These were all names for a compilation of the first three. The first two games were still included in their native DOS versions, I believe this is why they're listing system requirements for a DOS version.

EDIT BEFORE POST: Ah yes, I see you've already reached the same conclusion.

Right, yeah. I asked the uploader about it but will probably have to check the game's setup for myself at some point.

Sound Blaster family are compatible with Ad Lib.
Any game that support Ad Lib could be also listed in "support AWE32"
MIDI != AWE32,
AWE32 != MIDI.
In this case, I think mobygames is correct.
They said: Sound Devices Supported : Sound Blaster AWE32
They did not say: MIDI Supported : Sound Blaster AWE32

Monkey Island 3 doesn't support Adlib so I'm not sure why you're telling me this.

The point it backward compatibility.
A game support Sound Blaster AWE32 do not mean it have to use all functions of Sound Blaster AWE32, like MIDI.
In fact, most of the games in that era, only use a few functions provided by soundcards.
I did not say Monkey Island 3 support Ad Lib.
I said all Sound Blaster family support Ad Lib.

I understand and I already know this, I just have no idea why you're telling me this as a reply to a conversation about MI3.

ZZT was a framework and a construction set tool, which you could make your own games/levels. So the core engine itself wouldn't have the music; Although it did support PC speaker stuff in the original.

SuperZZT or Ultra ZZT might have been variants of it. But unless i can find a good archive of submitted works, it doesn't add up to much on those.
