Music: Tie
Both games seem to have excellent sound tracks.

Voice Acting: BG3
The voice acting that is in WOTR is good, but BG3 is better and is fully voiced. You will need to read a lot in WOTR.

Difficulty: WOTR
BG3 has only 1 difficulty mode that has to work for all players. WOTR has I think 7 levels of difficulty and a slew of custom options related to it. Even if this changes on release, there's no way BG3 can offer as much challenge as WOTR for those that want that.

Writing/Story: Tie
From what I can see, they both have excellent writing and story. I don't see any clear winner here.

Presentation: BG3
The cinematic dialogues, graphics, and slickness of presentation are far better in BG3. Even in early access this is obvious.

Technical: BG3
The engine and general coding in BG3 is far better than WOTR. WOTR is not very well optimized. And when the "final" versions of these games arrive and there are no more patches I am certain BG3 will be the less buggy & more optimized game.

Length: WOTR
I know the full BG3 is not yet revealed but I'm almost 100% certain BG3 has to be a smaller game than WOTR. WOTR is massive and has lots of reasons to replay it.

Character Builds / Leveling Complexity: WOTR
The options available in WOTR (even if you didn't factor in the mythic paths) is far, far beyond anything in BG3.

Combat/Gameplay: WOTR
BG3 has a turn based combat only. I think a lot of people will like this. But WOTR has both turn based mode and real-time with pause that can be toggled on demand whenever you want. Having that flexibility even in the middle of a battle with a key press is nice. BG3 has a 4 char party, WOTR has 6. And again the difficulty can be so much harder on WOTR if you want that challenge. So I think if only for giving more options WOTR wins here.

Multiplayer: BG3
WOTR has no multiplayer, BG3 does. So this is easy. I don't know how many people can play a deep 100+ hour RPG with other people, but if you can, BG3 is the only option.

Enemies: Maybe WOTR
I think both games basically cover the same types of enemies. But I kind of doubt BG3 will have as good boss battles as WOTR. I can't know this for sure, I'm just doubtful.

Exploration: BG3
Exploring the world is just far more immersive with more hidden things and surprises in BG3 than walking thru a map in WOTR. I'm not saying WOTR is not immersive, but that BG3 is just far more immersive.

I think it's obvious BG3 is going to be amazing. But I still think WOTR is going to be preferred by some.

Well I think Star Wars is currently garbage. I don't think WOTR or BG3 are garbage.
If I recall correctly, WOTR has alignment and BG3 hasn't, so WOTR for the win. Also 3.5/3P > 5E.

I had not thought of that but yes, you are correct.
bg3 is a Larian game so its aimed at the stream / casual player... it sucks you into the story quickly and is mostly simple to play

wotr is aimed at players that want harder [i.e, have to plan your character] game paly buts a stand alone product so will get less love as years go on

i personally don't see it as a Vs senario because if you like these kind of games you should get both

Yes it's simpler than WOTR, but I don't think it's simple or super mainstream like Skyrim, Diablo, or Final Fantasy. I think it's more complex then Divinity Original Sin was. So yes BG3 is easier and more casual than WOTR (but what isn't?) Compared to most of gaming BG3 is still a pretty hardcore CRPG though. It just graphically looks more impressive than the genre has ever been before & that will help it appeal to a larger audience.

Right. I'm just comparing them and what I think their strengths/weaknesses are.

How is WOTR a stand alone product compared to BG3?

There's there's still DLC being released for WotR. A year and a half (and counting) after the base game's release. :P
I read the Illithiad; so BG3 is an hard No for me.

Star Wars has been garbage for more than 40 years.

No no, cmon..... 3 new movies coming, yet another show due for release... That is certainly not in the description for rubbish... If any then WOTR is probably the title most worthy of the verdict rubbish in this discussion

BG3 is still in development and not finished yet. So, it doesn't seem like a fair comparison at this point.

I download new patches for WOTR all the time. I think you can argue that game is not done developing either. But it's feature complete at this point nothing major will change and the same is true for BG3. The game is done. Only fixes and a little polish ahead of its August release.

Yeah this makes no sense. WOTR is in Season 2 of its DLC. And there was Kingmaker and its DLC before this. It took Larian 7 years to make this one game. I don't remember Larian ever doing DLC. They've done their enhanced editions for divinity but never really DLC. But BG is a property they don't own so maybe they'll do DLC, I don't know.
