From time to time, I've been getting an installation error with Pathfinder Kingmaker, when installing it via galaxy. It's mostly errors E1 and E5. Installation proceeds normally until you earch 100% and then the errors appear. I've tried everything, reinstalling Galaxy, formatting my computer and the drive I use to install games, etc... nothing really seems to help so I'm guessing it's an error on Galaxy's end. I googled this and apparently it's an error the game has had since 2019 at the very least. The community mod said they were looking into it but it's clear they did nothing...

Other than making a manual installation, is there something I could do? This only started happening recently too, normally I'd install and play without any issue. I'd say the problem started like 2 or 3 weeks ago.
GOG GALAXY Installation failed (E1)/Update failed(E1) - Your local copy of the game is corrupted
• Check that your antivirus or other security software isn't identifying false positives and putting parts of the game in quarantine.
• Check that the HDD/SSD is healthy with CrystalDiskInfo.
• Check that your file system is healthy by running an extensive chkdsk scan. Do the time-consuming one that checks for bad sectors.

GOG GALAXY Update failed (E5) - Game was running during update
If restarting your system doesn't fix this, open a support ticket.

I actually installed Pathfinder KM last week using Galaxy and for me it works fine. Did you have the issue with other game ? I would suspect it's probably something on your system, an overzealous anti-virus or something like that.

It's the only game with this problem. Funny thing is that I also own it on Steam and installation finished with no issues. As I said before several other users were reporting a similar problem that, again, only affected PFKM, but the thread I found had no real solution other than a mod (presumably from Owlcat) saying they would look into this issue. Everything else in Galaxy works fine. It's just this one specific game. A shame...

Edit: I forgot to mention. I actually tried this because I noticed it was an issue that started repeating itself. Made a clean Galaxy install, then installed PFKM, and that went well. To test what could be going wrong, I uninstalled it both via Galaxy and via Control Panel. When I try to reinstall it, the galaxy error happens. It reaches 100% and everything. Oddly enough, I've seen the game in the Control Panel options.

Having the exact same issue right now. Was working fine, but now I get E1 with no option to repair. Only game in GOG having this issue. Windows 10 Pro, ESET (Disabled during install for testing, still fails).
Maybe you want to just use the offline installer?

Had you looked at the offline installer for this game with all the DLC? It's a mess. I'll buy it on Steam and get a refund from GOG before I go that route.

Yes, I have the offline installer. I don't have any of the DLC though. I didn't find running an exe once to install the game a big deal. I realize you'd have additional exes for the DLC but again I wouldn't find that a major problem either. More than worth it to have the ability to install without logging in or being online for me. But you have to suite yourself I suppose.

BTW there are apps that can download all the files for you. You don't have to manually grab each one.

Unfortunately, it's not one file

Game installers and updates:
Pathfinder: Kingmaker (Part 1 of 8) 2.1.7b.fix. 6 MB
Pathfinder: Kingmaker (Part 2 of 8) 2.1.7b.fix. 4 GB
Pathfinder: Kingmaker (Part 3 of 8) 2.1.7b.fix. 4 GB
Pathfinder: Kingmaker (Part 4 of 8) 2.1.7b.fix. 4 GB
Pathfinder: Kingmaker (Part 5 of 8) 2.1.7b.fix. 4 GB
Pathfinder: Kingmaker (Part 6 of 8) 2.1.7b.fix. 4 GB
Pathfinder: Kingmaker (Part 7 of 8) 2.1.7b.fix. 4 GB
Pathfinder: Kingmaker (Part 8 of 8) 2.1.7b.fix. 15 MB
Patch (2.1.5d to 2.1.7b.fix.) 2.1.7b.fix. 107 MB
Patch (2.1.5c to 2.1.5d) 2.1.5d 6 MB
Patch (2.1.4 to 2.1.5c) 2.1.5c 55 MB
Patch (2.1.3b to 2.1.4) 2.1.4 111 MB
DLC installers:
Varnhold's Lot 2.1.7b.fix. 4 MB
In-game player's portraits 2.1.7b.fix. 6 MB
Beneath The Stolen Lands - Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Beneath The Stolen Lands (Part 1 of 2) 2.1.7b.fix. 1 MB
Beneath The Stolen Lands - Pathfinder: Kingmaker - Beneath The Stolen Lands (Part 2 of 2) 2.1.7b.fix. 3.5 GB
Premium Digital Copy 2.1.7b.fix. 6 MBIn-Game Pet - Red Panda 2.1.7b.fix. 5 MBThe Wildcards 2.1.7b.fix. 4 MB

And yes, there are tools; it's called Steam. GOG, Origin, Ubiplay, Epic, and so on. GOG is failing to do its job. I'm not going to go out of my way to find another way to fix their product. Either they fix it, or they refund me to play on another platform. It's part of the service I pay them for the products they provide.

I never said it was 1 file, though you seem to misunderstand that you would not download all the patches. Those are for updating an existing install. Anyway, I don't care. If you want a copy that requires you to login to Steam to install, then go for it.

For some reason Galaxy won't detect the game if I install it like that.
And with Galaxy, things are still very broken. I looked around a bit and it seems the issue is with the DLCs and its verification process, because the game fully installs and plays normally, but I want to make use of Galaxy's functionalities (namely the cloud save system).

This is still the only game that has this problem.
