Looks good. I'm always up for a RPG/card game mix like this. I wonder though... am I the only one worried about whether it will require Galaxy? I mean, it certainly will for the multiplayer, because that's what "DRM-free" means around here now. But single-player? Are we looking at another Gremlins Inc? Armello DRM free edition? GWENT?

Wow, this looks good and a GOG release date of the 15th June too - hopefully this will be an instabuy for me. BUT, like you, I'm also worried about the possible Galaxy installation/requirement for the single player game. If this turns out to be the case, then that's another game I'll not be buying :(

Coincidentally I've just downloaded this and played it a bit on my phone.

It's not a bad game, reminds me a lot of GW's Talisman Android game. I can't really see how a DRM free version would work though (or at least one without micro transactions) as you literally have to pay real money for everything... new scenarios, characters, even dice... admittedly you can buy some of it with gold you earn in game, but the rate is so slow that you're clearly meant to be spending money to get anywhere fast.

I suppose they could release a slightly beefed up base game with some of the paid for content included and a raft of DLC for everything else...

I can with all heart recommend the boardgames which this is probably based upon. It is a coop based card game where you have characters which run through several adventures and even "level up" from one adventure to the next, so there is some sort of persistence. You can play alone or with friends, but the games are a bit of an investment and not cheap if you get all the adventures and add-ons.

On the other hand, you will probably dump loads of money on the online game aswell.

Less worried about Galaxy being a requirement and more worried about a whole bunch of DLCs costing $999.99.

On the upside I can guarantee that there will be hotseat multiplayer. The very nature of the game makes blocking access to that impossible.

I have it analogue. It is fun. No excessive deck building, getting better during campaign and easy rules. It is really fun to play with the kids. But I think as a digital game, without verbal interaction, it will become a solitaire game.

Have the board game. Its ok, nothing special. Would expect the to be the same as any other card game, online only (Gwent, goblins, hs, m:tg etc.). Lets face, nothing Gog has done over the last year has been good.

The game works in single player by having a single player control a party of characters. Each character takes their turn one after the other. Hotseat would be each player picking a character and taking their turn when their character comes up. That's exactly how it works in the mobile version (they call it pass and play).

I suppose Obsidian could activate your camera and have someone yell out "Stop that!" over your speaker if they see multiple people playing single player. :p

Otherwise I don't see a way to prevent hotseat.

This is what I'm hoping for - a modestly priced base game or base game / big expansion / character pack (I forget the name of the first set of characters that was released for the physical game shortly after the base set) and then paid DLC for the "smaller" scenario / quest packs. Ideally it'd be supported with DLC after initial release to keep pace with the expansions released for the physical game.

I think they'd have me as a pretty steady customer if they did something like this. And maybe "ramp up" whatever the gold curve is that it sounds like you're describing for the free to play version. That way, you're essentially paying for the dice, skins and other junk in the form of the base game price and you just unlock it as an ingame reward with "gold."

I'd be royally ticked if they try and microtransaction us to death but I have high hopes.

Like I mentioned in the "unofficial release" thread though I'm pretty optimistic and excited for this one. It was a card game I considered purchasing but eventually passed. So I'm super excited to grab it here assuming the pricing structure isn't too shameful.

Heck, I might even be down for a few "beer and pretzels" multiplayer nights with fellow Goglodytes if anyone is up for it.

Well, that might be all the more reason to make Galaxy mandatory to use single-player :D

So if I read that right... if I purchase the Obsidian edition and register it I can access all content on my android version? Hot dog I'm in! I'll buy it here so I can access all IAP and play exclusively on my phone.

I won't have to spend $999.99!
(Hyperbole of course - but still damn expensive to buy all the IAP on android)

[EDIT] And I suspect it won't use Galaxy much if at all. Obsidian already has the account infrastructure in place on their servers.
