Hi, I've been having some troubles coming up with some good meals to pack for lunches.

Ideally, I would like the meals to be:

* fairly easy to prepare
* prepared ahead of time
* stored in the refrigerator for the week
* ready-to-go (packed in plastic bags or similar)
* edible at room temperature (no heating necessary)
* neat to eat (not too messy)

So far, I've been thinking that burritos, meat-n-side combos, and maybe some salads or sandwiches might work.

If anybody has any ideas, or links to good websites, I would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

UPDATE:

Thanks for all the great replies! I wasn't so sure what to pick as the "solution," but Vythonaut's was pretty far-out (see what I did there?).

Again, thanks! I am looking forward to trying out these ideas!

After some quick Googling, I've found: Personally, I'd say the sandwich or salad's your best bet.
What about Scotch Eggs?

You can make your own ramen in a jar if you've got access to hot water where you'll be eating. You could throw together a hearty chopped salad and act virtuous about your dietary choices. For that matter, if you want to eat light, make some and throw a quarter cup of it in a little container, and pack some good bread. Even though it's usually served as a hot dinner entree, I find [url=http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/chicken-kiev-recipe.html]chicken Kiev makes for an awesome cold "sandwich". And of course there's always the old standby.

If you overlook the "stored in the refrigerator for the week" thing, i would suggest you temaki roll sushi in nori sheets. It is fairly easy to prepare, it is prepared ahead of time, you can store it in refrigerator (even big hotels do) but it doesn't last more than a couple of days, you can pack it up easily, is edible at room temperature and is neat to eat, because you have a large variety of stuff to choose for filling (most usual is cucumber or avocado, with one or more of those; eel, prawns, crabmeat, smoked salmon, fatty tuna, brick and others. Suggested new style (fish meat to be thermally processed where and when possible, NOT raw/traditional.

Or you can prepare a mix of cold sandwiches. Those can stay in fridge longer. Lettuce, tomato, ham and cheese, pickle, or chicken, mushroom, egg, corn, lettuce, white sauce.

I'm boring. Whenever I need to pack a lunch I'll make a sandwich, add in some berries and some almonds. Then either raw peapods or raw broccoli.

Usually also something else as well with a bit of "weight" behind it - maybe a yogurt or a banana. Or a hard cheese cut up in place of the yogurt. Of course, when I pack a lunch it's usually something designed to be tasty, quick, light with a bit of quick energy and a longer term "boost" as well.
