That Steam thingy? Maybe? Not sure. Probably something that will forever be compatible with every single Wintel-PC game ever created, with built-in emulators for every single console ever created, and also for older PCs like the Amiga, VIC-20, etc and even the old Apple computers. And that will be forever compatible with every single device driver ever. And will take up about 60kB on your hard drive. And boots like, ya know, RIGHT NOW! And lets you choose between GUI and command line. And can never get a virus or malware.

And is, of course, DRM-free.

I just want some fairness In an OS that I spend my money on and be able to play games I've purchased. All this Microsoft bullshit redistributable add-ons just make my games run choppier or not run at all.

Your experience is somewhat same, but I tend to err toward collective wisdom to new ships. If there were a new "game OS", it might already exist and perhaps for new dimensions.

In an alternate reality there's a GOG OS. It's built upon Windows 3.1 foundations, and has drivers for 2 button joysticks. I've seen it.
