The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt 50% off for the first time. Up to 80% off games that you'll find only on GOG.com.

Across the years, we've tracked down and recovered numerous gaming classics - those lost to time but never quite forgotten. We've tested, tweaked, and tested some more to get them up and running on your computers, free of the all-consuming hassle of virtual machines and emulators. We've done our best to deliver bonus goodies: manuals, booklets, and all the little things that gave us a sense of heft and ownership so many years ago.

We are digital archeologists, we are gaming detectives, and this week is all about the games that make GOG.com a unique place to be:

For the first time ever, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt gets a 50%, courtesy of our friends at CD PROJEKT RED. And while we're at it, we're throwing in the rest of the Witcher franchise along for the ride.

Four bundles, the best of those that returned, only on GOG.com:
D&D: Classic Bundle (up to -80%): featuring the classic editions of Baldur's Gate, Planescape: Torment, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights - 10 games in total.

The D&D Classic Bundle is hurting my eyes with its shining awesomeness...
Great promo, and I like the strategic thinking behind it.

If I can find somebody to help me out and maximize the discount, I'm going to buy my entire GOG wishlist this week!
Apologies if this has already been answered before but are the issues with Shadow of the Horned Rat now solved?

Bearprint: Are the Icewind Dale-games worth getting?
Yes! Pretty much whatever Maighstir said. While others may find reasons to complain and/ or compare them to BG, I can't complain for anything at all. The Infinity Engine cRPGs (basically BG, IWD & PS:T) was the best thing happened for me, PC gaming wise.
Boy, I'll say... just clicked on the GOG.com "publisher" link on a game's description and seeing the whole catalogue, so far, brought me to an intense moment of joy. It all began with a "simple" yet unique Panzer General release...
No joke when I say that GOG is among the finest publishers... on GOG! :P
Yay!

Vythonaut: I guess it's a good thing this ain't the Winter Sale since my wallet's health is low and I can't find any.. stimpacks around.
avatar
HypersomniacLive: Have stimpacks against impulse/compulsive buying of games been invented yet?
I heard some use Rad-X, not sure if it helps though...

JogsterXL: Oh no! Not another sale! My poor wallet! Thanks GOG! :-)
Yeah. GOG seems to have problems with spacing out their sales. I seem to recall it happening last year as well.

They held the Autumn sale too late(and well here November is more Winter than Autumn, underscored by 6" of snow Saturday) and you just knew that they were going to have to have something for Black Friday sales, and then there is Christmas/New Year sales...

I'm not complaining, but it just seems too much all overloaded so close together, and they really need a way to offset the steam sales as well as steam used to have really good holiday/special sales, but not so much for the last couple of years.

Gold box games aren't discounted much. I seem to recall a shovelware CD set release with practically all of the same games released in the early 00s IIRC(maybe late 90s) for <$20. I have it buried in my basement somewhere...

[EDIT]
...and IIRC there were at least several different similar collections... budget priced... no printed manuals or anything IIRC but PDFs and the stuff you'd expect with a GOG release... whomever own the gold box series now needs to have a sit down and rethink their value. They're good games, but many of them are severely dated, e.g. it's PAINFUL to play/look at Pool of Radiance(CGA IIRC putrid pink, vomit green, etc.) nowadays, and Curse of Azure Bonds isn't much better(EGA IIRC) painful UIs.

Those gold box games are in DIRE need of being remade OTOH so is Darklands(and finished) as both have really good tactical combat but their gfx(mostly gold box) and UIs(both) are pretty awful nowadays. Also as I alluded it'd be really nice if someone redid Darklands and could do all of the originally planned expansions, as TBH for as good a game as it is I always found something ... hollow ... about it.

I love nostalgia but $33 is steep when I only want the certain games in the gold box D&D bundle and then the discount drops. I also don't understand the 'only on GoG' tagline, Witcher 3 (among some others) isn't only sold here.

I smelled a sale coming. Interesting one at that.

I love the concept and hope GOG expands on the idea of exclusivity. I know gamers dislike exclusives, but I think there is quite a lot to be said about exclusivity and curation. For one it breeds a certain culture for platforms. Perhaps one of the easiest ways I can explain it is compared to consoles. Much like if you wanted to play shooters & focus on multiplayer, last gen you typically went for a 360, whereas if you wanted more eastern content like JRPGS you would tend to go PS3.

There is nothing wrong with selective curation. In fact this sale exhibits that it already exists here because if you want the best of old game, you come here. I would however hope that both selectivity and nabbing exclusive agreements is something in the future as it has the potential to help stimulate growth while help making the industry ecosystem a far more healthy one. One stop shopping is nice, but it is what it is and what it is doing to the industry are anything but nice.

Anyway, Nothing here I have interest in, but that is because I personally tend toward new/modern games (despite a lengthy old school pedigree). Its definitely a nice sale and I am glad to see it wont be like a typical holiday sale wanting you to check back repeatedly for new deals and wont linger on about twice as long as it should in the name of repeating deals. This "black" season has already had far too much of that with other retailers, namely Amazon and others.

Bearprint: Are the Icewind Dale-games worth getting?
The Icewind Dale games are among my all time favorites. I've had more fun with them than Baldur's Gate.
Uhmm bundles with games mostly unknown to me and really good prices on the Witcher games. Maybe I will get W1 and have a look at it. Must talk to the credit card but they kindly bought my medicne for me today so maybe not today.
