HypersomniacLive: GOG's notification system is completely borked, never got a flag for this. *sigh*

trentonlf: You are far from greedy and I encourage you to enter :)
avatar
HypersomniacLive: Hmm... tell you what, if no one enters for the game I'm eyeing, I'll consider an entry for it. ;-)

Do you have a set deadline (hour) in mind?

And thanks a bunch for the kind words. :-)
No definitive time to end it, was going to base it off of interest. If interest is not there this weekend might end it sometime Sunday.

Still a couple of days then, cheers.

BillyMaysFan59: I'm afraid I have to concur with this statement. I appreciate how they got some new publishers and nice games here during the past months, but several things GOG has done recently are quite disappointing. One of the main reasons I keep coming here at all is because of all the admirable efforts of the community. Tracker threads, Barefoot Essentials, MaGOG, lgogdownloader, informative GOGmixes.... and the list goes on.

(still not in btw)

Wurzelkraft: I think it went further downhill quite recently. GOG is just another faceless shop on the internet now.
I actually accelerated my buying recently, but that's basically an exit strategy prior to the client's release.

But I'll still pop in to say hi to trentonlf! :)

Interestingly I did the same since I've been here. I suspected changes (although not as quick and drastically) and I usually don't trust online shops anyway. (too many letdowns) Somehow I wish I was wrong though.

So do you think it will get pretty bad once the galaxy client is up and running full time?

That seems to be the general consensus. Although GOG has assured us the client is optional. However, lately it's difficult to rely on their word.

It would be sad indeed if it turned into a typical forum after the client is out, GOG was a great place and filling it up with jerks would kill it quickly.

I hope the Galaxy client will remain optional as well. The main reason why I use GOG is that it's DRM-free and doesn't have a mandatory client.

Well, should that happen, y'all are welcome to come and crash at my place. ^__^

I survived TET's good news™ pretty strongly, but my dismay with the future began back in May or June with the loss of the Armas. The September Surprise (I guess it was probably August, but less alliteration) and the way Witcher Adventure Game phoned home on me kind of sealed it. Not forgetting all the other stuff, of course...

If Galaxy isn't too intrusive into the way the place works I think many of the older folks might stick around. But I'm just not a fan of sites with clients and think everything will be way too tied together. The demographic the client is seeking just isn't my demographic as well.

All remains to be seen, but I think it has gotten pretty bad already, prior to what will make me think it's REALLY bad.

EDIT: But we should return to happier discussions, such as your awesome GA. :)

I'm in for:

1 - Legend of Grimrock 2
2 - Wasteland 2 Digital classic edition
3 - Mark of the Ninja special edition
4 - Shadowrun returns

I'd like to thank every single one of you active members of the GOGforums that helps to make this place the way it is. It's very hard to find a community on the internet that is this receptive to newcomers, so attentive, helpful and respectful.
Also like to thank everyone that makes the giveaways for their generosity (Briareos262, budejovice, xckx, genkicolleen, trentonlf, Sachys, _Slaugh_, Impaler26, to name a few).

If all the client does is allow people to play GOG games online it might not be too bad. It would be really cool if GOG could get it to work with UT2004 or Outlaws. But I still hope the client will remain optional.

Will probably close this in the next 24-36 hours.

Not in for the generous offering of games but thought I should wish you a happy anniversary. Your posts are always positive from what I've seen and you reach out warmly to all kinds of forum members. So thank you.
