does anyone else get frustrated by this TREND of gog's?
don't get me wrong, I love gog, it beats anything out there
ESPECIALLY steam, but I am getting sick of the old price
drop/price bounced back up deal, if you are going to price
drop a game then just DO IT and LEAVE IT!!!!! case in point
not too long ago WING COMMANDER 3 was on sale for $2.+
dollars and seeing as I don't have a credit card I couldn't buy
it, a couple of days later I got around to getting one of those
prepaid visa cards only to discover that WING COMMANDER 3
is back to it's original $8.+ price. now this game is well worth $8.00
but why would anyone pay that when you know it was available for
about 4 times less, gog REALLY drives me crazy with this crap, I
just wish they would find another way of implementing this whole
ON SALE thing,ok I am done with my rant.

That's how sales on any item in any shop anywhere work... the regular price drops for a period of time. Not the shop's fault if you are unable to take advantage of it at the time...

Another thing about sales... they usually happen quite often... wait for another one... it won't (95% of the time) be too far away...

If I had to guess, it was probably part of the weekend sale. So you really only had 2 or 3 days to take advantage of it unlike a Monday sale.

If you like GOG and plan to buy some games here, add to your GOG wallet.

Threads (posted by GoG staff) announcing sales or new releases that offer discounts usually have an expiry date posted at the end of those articles. Also, when sales are posted (especially significant ones), they are usually listed (indicated by large icons) about halfway up/down the main GoG site home page, displaying a real-time countdown timer showing the time left till the end of those particular sales...

As some have stated... that's kinda how sales work.

As someone suggested earlier, I'd think about putting some money in a wallet or keeping money on the pre-paid card for events like the sale you spoke about.

With that said... I do have a bone to pick along a similar line...

I think GOG having multiple sales (with multiple expiration dates) going on all-at-once can become confusing, but this strategy is becoming common on digital storefronts. PSN has started doing the very same thing and trying to remember when the various sales expire -- and what games were in what sales -- can be maddening. I can only imagine stores have found that confusion over sales expirations leads to more overall impulse sales. In my case -- much like department stores with maze-like configurations -- the added confusion just makes me decide against buying altogether.

I really don't see much confusion here - there's always the "on sale now" tab, which will show you all games currently on sale, regardless part of which sale they are. Also, use your wishlist to check if games you want are on sale. That clears up everything for me literally in a second.

I'm glad you don't feel much confusion. I do... and simply saying this confusion has led to me foregoing purchases.

The problem with that is that you won't see for how long the sales are running. The only way to see that is to find the individual sales page. So while complaining about prices on sale being different is silly, being confused about how long a sale offer will be available is a valid complaint, IMO, especially if you don't shop at GOG that often or do it for the first time. That's something GOG really ought to work on (but probably won't).
