So, if I understand correctly - go to my games library, click on the Witcher 3 (for example), and there are something like 10 installation files under relatively big "GOG Galaxy game installers" title. Underneath it clearly says "The above installer includes GOG Galaxy client for the full experience and the best support of all features for the game, including: auto-updates, achievements, overlay" - double warning that this will install Galaxy with my game.
If I don't want Galaxy with my game (and for now I don't), I just click on "More" and there are two non-Galaxy installation options. It's really simple. (I apologize if I understood that process wrong)

I'm not trying to act stupid, provoke anybody, troll or anything like that, but I honestly don't understand why is this immediately considered to be villainous act, betrayal or what not? Especially when most of the missteps that GOG made in the past were resolved after couple of days/weeks of normal communication with GOG team, and after years of respectful relationship between GOG and GOG community/customers.

The problems are.
1. an offline installer with an online client, this is barely rational.
2. They include the full Galaxy installer with with many Games this uses noticeable diskspace.
3. The forum posts about this topic contain barely any information.
4. The forum posts have barely any reach.
5. Users who don't by chance know will end up with Galaxy installers, as they are the default download.
6. No clear information does classic installers (still) exist and where they can be found.
7. The installer with Galaxy does not clearly state it will install Galaxy.
8. The Optout during installation is a click away.

Basically anyone not knowing this and beeing careful will end up with Galaxy installed. And this from someone who is (was) considered the "good guy".

Why include the Galaxy client with sleazy methods in the offline installers and not just redesign the user experience on the site to better inform customers.

Because it's being pushed heavily - and there's nothing wrong with that - but it's the way in which it's being done. As noted by Executer:

: the default is to have the Galaxy-laden installers. Okay, no big deal, but they've pushed the 'classic' installers into the MORE tab, so if you don't know where they are, you don't even know they exist.

: there's no functionality to make the 'classic' installers your default choice. So every time you want to DL from the website, you have to go to the MORE tab to get the 'classic' installers. As well, if you choose 'classic' installers and leave the game page, it resets to Galaxy installers. Every time.

: if you inadvertently grab the Galaxy-laden installer and start the process, there's no clear indication that you're installing Galaxy. And the opt-out, as noted, is hidden behind the Options button on the installer window. This is adware/malware behaviour and something one would think any self-respecting company would avoid like the plague.
