Any recommendations?
I'd recommend MechWarrior; however, that franchise is now owned by Microsoft, maybe someone could cut a deal with them so we can see it on GOG?
Shogo: Mobile Armor Division (Monolith)
Armored Core series (PS2)

an my personal favorite: Mech Warrior 4 Vengeance

Strategy wise, mechcommander 2 was pretty good. I know I have another strategy one with mechs, which had things like dismembering enemy mech arms and attaching them to your own or robbing their pieces to upgrade their technology; IIRC it also features a cool mechanic where the pilot of a destroid mech is ejected, and if you manage to get it back to base you get to put it on a new one and keep XP. All in all, it wasn't that great though; and I can't remember the name right now.
Shogo - Mobile Armor Division. I absolutely love this game, but you have to get past the fact that it's ugly, buggy and rather difficult.

Slave Zero.

One Must Fall 2097. One of the best fighting games ever made for PC.

Not Metal Fatigue right?
That had mechs, but I don't remember the eject mechanic.

I *think* it was Metal Fatigue, yes. Certainly the game I was talking about, I might have mistaken the eject mechanic from somewhere else but I do recall seeing the tripulation around the map.

Now I'll go and check.

EDIT: Can't find much on it, although I did learn stuff I didn't care about. Either way, I'm pretty sure you had to choose a pilot for each robot and that there were different experience level of them, and that you had to do your best to bring them back to base alive if you wanted to reuse them.

It's free by now, it works perfectly on my 64bit win7 system, and it's awesome!

I remember G-Nome having an eject which allowed you to run around and try to hijack another mech.
How about a new game that looks like an old mecha game?

I think it was more of an automatic eject on destruction thing though.

On mechcommander 2, it was pretty cool that you could actually target the enemy pilot, kill him, and then bring one of your own pilots and take over the somewhat damaged mech. Not so cool that it depended on those damn resources though.
