Have I just been missing them when they're announced as available, or is there more newer Indie games being released on GOG rather than older games? Note that my work schedule is a bit weirder than most people, as well as not always having an internet connection available, so it's easy for me to miss them.

I mean, GOG releases both old games and new games. :P Just check out the "headlines" on the front page, and maybe search by "Date Added" - https://www.gog.com/games?sort=date&page=1 (scroll down past any of the "Soon" titles)

We got Freddy Pharkas and SWAT 4 among others.

Nah, I haven't updated the spreadsheet this year. I keep hoping you will be able to do so yourselves instead of paging me, but seems like I'll have to update it again.

It should be about the same actually. GOG releases about one old game a week (and has been releasing about 1 for quite some time) but they have been releasing more newer games. So while they still release (more or less) the same amount of old games, the percentage of old game releases is smaller, which does mean they release more and more newer games (compared to previous years).

So if you ask if GOG releases more new games than old, the answer is probably yes. If you ask if GOG releases fewer old games than they used to, the answer is probably no.

Sorry, but that's what happens when you become the 'go to' guy: you've built up our expectations to the point where we just Beeltjuice you when this question arises. :)

Unfortunately GOG has run out of old games. No one is making more old games anymore, everyone just makes new games nowadays. Everything has to be soooo new and shiny now, not old and rusty.

It was different when I was a kid, everyone was making only old games. Ok maybe there were a couple of mavericks making a new game here and there, but they were quite rare. It was all about old games, really.

Get to work slacky. ;)

Or don't, since you do it for free.

Actually, old games are still being made, but unfortunately they're exclusive to Steam. That's why GOG will soon die, because the only reason anybody shops here is for games that aren't on Steam. *cries self to sleep because of this*

No, when you were a kid, they ALSO were only making "new" games, if you think about it. :)

Wake up, slacker -- it too early in the day to cry yourself to sleep! You work now! Sleep later!

Makes sense. Still looking for a few that I used to have on floppies. I know quite a few I can pickup on "abandoned" websites, but prefer getting them on GOG since I don't care for Steam much. Joust, Hardball, Pole Position, etc. just to name a few. There's far more that I remember the game, but don't remember the names of unfortunately like a Roadrunner game, and something that had a level called Stygian Abyss (that might have been on the C64 though).
...is it that time of the month again?

If you remember bits about a game, but can't remember what it was called (and would really like to), consider making a topic mentioning the details here in the forum. The track record of these topics being solved by the forum denizens is very good here. :)
