I have a sinking feeling that cases of brain-eating amoeba are much more common than we think but that they usually simply don't result in death...

That's not exactly what I was shooting at...
I watch a show called "Monsters Inside Me" and they have had a few stories about this exact thing.

I didn't watch the posted video but from what I've see it's rare enough and takes someone with a weakened enough immune system that we don't need to to be running around freaking out about it.

Sorry to break it to the pessimist out there, but this is not the return of the Black Death, and you will be expected to get up and go to work tomorrow. :D
