I'm looking forward to it. I assume GOG will reject it though so I'll have to get it elsewhere.

edit: and I'm guessing it's missing some of the subtlety (believe it or not) and atmosphere that made P2 so good imo.

Darvond: The humor and styling.
avatar
DadJoke007: That was already implied with the games you mentioned. My question was: Why do games with that kind of style and humor only have a place in the past?
It's not easy to explain in such a logical manner; but to gently put it, it comes down to the winds changing; akin to how most jokes from the 1920 wouldn't land today and we'd consider them bizarre relics.

Basically, culture has changed, while a former icon like Duke Nukem would have no relevance.

They wouldn't be wrong to considering how GOG was and still is treated by RWS. :P
Awesome news ! I really like Postal II, so much fun.
*shrug* Still wouldn't play even if given for free, as is the case for Postal 1 & 2.

Culture hasn't changed at all, all that's changed is hordes of left-wing activists will try to ruin the lives of anyone who uses dark or edgy humor.

What a nice PS2 game.
Never realize that there's even a Postal 3. That 2010-2016 era is my gaming blank period.
For anyone curious Postal 4 song is called Bridges Burned by TatooTheScars

Postal 2 Song was called Holiday by Stands with Fists

Also it looks like they are still using unreal Engine 2 when they could easily upgrade to something more modern... haha whatever if it comes to gog I'll buy it ;)

Darvond: or Redneck Rampage. The past.

SpecShadow: there was new Redneck Rampage game recently?
well

Darvond: Not since 1997.
True but we have Project Warlock, Ion Fury, Immortal redneck, Strafe, Amid Evil... Soon we will have Prodeus, and Wrath, to wet the 90's murder vibe.

Also M210 just updated for all old FPS titles

Darvond: Here's the trailer.

Now personally, I think the place and time for Postal is much like that of Duke Nukem or Redneck Rampage. The past.
If Dave Chapelle's "Sticks&Stones" and "Joker" movie are any indication, you're wrong.

You claim culture hasn't changed, and I beg your pardon?

There was a time Shadow the Hedgehog was something people wanted to buy. And for a time it seemed that even Nintendo wanted to get in on the gig of Real being Brown. And I'm sure the RTS genre would love to live in your world because it'd still be relevant.

90s style murder is one thing. Cartoonish guts, non serious plots, that's something I welcome once again.

90s style humor, eeeeeh not so much.

Those both have points. I'm not certain Postal has a point aside from, WOW LOOK AT HOW SHOCKING THIS IS, like Hatred, Agony, and other such games.

Except Postal 2 wasn't about shock only. There were quite a few jokes on controversial topics. Whre else you could literally piss on the grave of gaming journalism? You know, like in the last DLC - the very DLC that VG247 threaten to boycott GOG over.

Honestly, the thing you're talking about is exactly the reason why Agony, Hatered and Postal 3 never got off - there wasn't enough clever satire there.
