So I just finished downloading a few games (Tyranny, X Com: Enemy Unknown, and Empire Earth III) and noticed the files names are different on the .bin files than how they usually are.

For example, for the Tyranny .bin files they are called setup_tyranny_1.2.1.0157_%2815309%29-1.bin and setup_tyranny_1.2.1.0157_%2815309%29-2.bin. The files downloaded completely, and in the case of the Empire Earth III .bin files I've downloaded them multiple times, but they still get saved like this. There's no impartial files and the files are the correct sizes in my downloads folder.

The problem is, these files aren't being recognized by the .exe files for these games. I tried removing the portion between the percentage signs and that didn't fix the issue.

Is this a server issue, or an issue on my end? I haven't tried installing them via GOG Galaxy as I don't have that installed at the moment. Other non-GOG files I've downloaded today have downloaded normally, granted they aren't .bin files.

Someone had a similar problem. IIRC it is a browser issue, so try a different one if you can.

Hmm. That doesn't look right.

I'm using Chrome and it's appearing as setup_real_myst_masterpiece_edition_2.2_rev_10535_(64bit)_(23829) while actively downloading.

Looks like a browser renaming special symbols into codes. Rename them back and install should work.

Yup, tried Firefox (was using Edge which was working fine until recently) and as Olauron said, Edge turned the brackets into those codes. Changing them back into brackets worked!

Weird how Microsoft can screw something up like Unicode in such a bothersome way.

It is the server issue.
GOG used to provided the good correct filenames before, but they changed it months ago.
gogrepo.py applied a simple patch to fix the problem GOG made.

Darvond: Weird how Microsoft can screw something up like Unicode in such a bothersome way.
It's hardly just MS, I remember when people around here were having issues with people putting javascript into the titles and redirecting people to all sorts of strange places.

If you're not doing real quality assurance on code, weird things are going to happen.

You were using Edge (in fact add any M$ product in there)? There are groups out there who can help with self harm you know.
