Good for your godson, then! Wish I had one.. ;)
Do i really need another games if i already own more than 800 and only played with a few ?
Why do i feel guilty if i add games into my shopping cart ?
So how does this work?

Hello, my name is Marko and I am an addict ....
I mean this with all respect to anyone reading this thread. The first step to not buying games, is asking yourself if you really need this game *right now*. Can it wait? Chances are, if you really want it, it'll be cheaper in 2-3 months.

Another tactic I use to help myself is I distract myself and say "I have to beat X game before I buy anything new" and then I go on a bender and beat 3-4-5 games in a week.

Another tactic I use is I will put games in my cart, I will look at the total. I will do a quick mini budget to see how much it will cost me. I try always to *never* buy games on credit and only use debit/gift cards.

It's doable to curb the habit, but the first month of going game-purchase free is tough. Try to distract yourself with things like netflix, philo, youtube, forums, social media lite like Twitter and Reddit. Watch Twitch, I guarantee if you find a good stream you'll get lost for an hour easy, and then forget you were going to blow more money on more games you don't need.

Just some tips, I'm still very much a work in progress, but this is what helps me when I get the video game fever.

I use the Odysseus method: let yourself bind to a mast and get everyone else blindfolded and ears blocked...
^^
So far did not buy anything in this sale but got a game connected (one recieved from the non-GOG community giveaway) and won a game in Doc0075's giveaway and recieved someone's spare Everspace copy and grabbed the two giveaways GOG had so I still ended up with me having grown my GOG library by five during this sale...

True, my backlog is not humongous like many here but better put the brakes on in time, right. What I have now should be doable in 1½-3 years as some games are always going to be misses and not to my liking and thus dropped.

I did block myself from the GOG community giveaway and am trying hard to avoid buying much but hey, that one looks soo cheap. Got to go get it before the sale is over.

Oh, and I use the GOG wallet now and it gets filled twice a year by someone else and due to been hit hard by bad luck this year and needing to buy a new pc 2019, I only bought €12 for the winter.

Unless a totally awesome game is grotesquely discounted, I only buy good Linux games now and my income has exceeded my ability to make a significant dent in it by buying only good Linux GOG releases a while back.

It would probably be a bit better if I wasn't buying any more games, but meh, I like to support devs who make quality games for Linux.

I just unpacked my big box collection after storing them with a mind to sell it off. at least i tried! i stopped picking up hard copies of games but with digital its so easy to buy and buy . :( its an addiction i believe, I cant even play much anymore due to nerve damage yet here I went and got like 10 games this sale. I need another hard drive to store them as my other one, pure games not the extra goodies or music, is full. 2Tb. *sigh

i give up.
