I've resisted the urge to buy anything for 2 weeks, and I think just the $1.99 for gemcraft this month + 2 GA games (Transistor, Wimp: Who Stole my pants)
Edit - oh, I think I bought a game to put in a GA at the start of the month as well. Ah well.

Though if Insomnia is busting out in the next week or two, that may blow any sense of progress this year into the stratosphere ;)

Just bought MISSING: INTERACTIVE THRILLER on Google Play. It's not really an addition to the backlog, I already bought it on Steam, wanted to play it with my wife, she didn't like it enough to get far into it, so I will play it myself on the tablet.
Also added 3 more games to the trash pile thanks to Be Mine Anniversary 3 at Groupees, which I bought for The Cloud Dungeon, a pen & paper & scissors & markers RPG.
Problem is, it's not just games. I'm now tempted to buy the full Pathfinder bundle at Humble. I used to collect RPG games 20+ years ago, when I actually read them, and it still feels like a cool thing to own, but I know I will hardly read these books, especially since it's a bog standard D&D style RPG.
The Cloud Dungeon, on the other hand, I'm definitely going to play with my kids, if they'll let me.

Is this it? March may very well be my games-buying-moratorium combo breaker. Yeah, I'm not sure I'll be able to withstand the allure of the Wadjet Eye's newest: Shardlight.
Then again, I still have $160 in reserve from Christmas and my birthday from which I haven't spent anything. Time to finally use some of that, me thinks. So much for my NY's resolution. I can't cheat my way out of this with gift money. =/

Lately
I've been thinking of buying a van. I think I could've bought one with the money I spent on nearly 900 games on gog...

I recently started doing meditation and even though I'm a novice at this I can already see what a powerful tool meditation & related practices can be against various temptations, including serious ones like humblebundleism. Perhaps I'll go into more detail in a later (more extensive) post but I just wanted to throw the suggestion out there already.

...but you still need therapy and therefor came to the right place :) Your past excesses don't matter that much, what you do next is what matters most.

Technically speaking, long clean streaks are somewhat overrated. What matters is that one manages to break free from compulsion and that there is overall progress, meaning fewer purchases in total over the course of the year.

After that I'll just enjoy some more of my backlog until something else comes along I'd love to play. ;)

I think I hit on a new psychological problem. I'm now starting to think of buying games as "supporting the devs". I look at the Humble Jumbo 6 bundle and thinking: I won't play Dreamfall Chapters soon, but I'm happy that it's out, and I want the devs to get my support. $7 isn't too much.

The Insomnia shall be a good test if I overcome my compulsion buying.

That's going to be the title of my book ""Supporting the Devs" or why I have 1000+ games on Steam, GoG and Origin"

Ended up supporting the devs. That's my highest cost game purchase this year.
