scampywiak: Except that it has been done to fucking death.
Yeah, so I hope it will have something unique (I'd love to see some unique races).

But in the end, it just doesn't matter. I'm happy isometric crpgs are alive.

lowyhong: I only wish I hadn't backed so many projects. I feel bad that I had to cancel my Planetary Annihilation pledge. I simply can't afford it.
avatar
SLP2000: Yep, I'm also doing some prioritising now, since I decided not to back some adventure games (Moebius, Two Guys, Jack Houston, Quest for Infamy, Project Fedora) and Carmageddon. And Planetary Annihilation lately.

I'll grab all of them later, preferably on GOG, but now I'm supporting crpgs in the first place. (wondering about Arakion atm).

Not sure what to do with Broken Sword.
I'm in that boat as well, just going the opposite direction. After the flood I decided I'd only back adventures... pulling that Wasteland 2 pledge was like pulling teeth. Hate to now pass on backing Tim Cains first Kickstarter, but there's still the Lori & Corey Cole project, Autumn Moon and bloody hell knows what else on the horizon. After all teh drama I just wish I hadn't thrown so much at Replay Games...

Gazoinks: Hm, true. I'd actually really like to see a bit more of a "fairy tale" feel, kinda like The Longest Journey. Where instead of elves and dwarves and such you have animal people and cottages and that sort of thing. It'd stay locked into the whole fantasy thing, but it'd have a bit more identity as well.
Try Inherit the Earth, it's adventure game (I'd kickstarter it in a second) with humanoid animals.

I see, but I always was rpg guy, adventure games are awesome (TLJ!) but I'll always choose crpg.

MoP: Lori & Corey Cole project
Fuck me, I totally forgot about School for Heroes!

semu: Aargh. I really hope they decide to give an option for DRM-free download for the backers.
I'm hoping this as well. Maybe they're just needing to find a proper solution for distribution. Obsidian.net couldn't handle the traffic.

gameon: Weren't they supposed to be helping with Wasteland 2?
Thats what i thought. This new project looks interesting, but $140 for boxed copy seems a bit steep. I'm sure this project will be funded, probably it will surpass the 1.1 million that they are asking. I might donate but i need more information before i do.
avatar
doady: It's 65 bucks for a boxed version. So can't say I understand all this bitching about the lack of a non-Steam version (though there really should be more choices for digital versions even at $20 tier).
I expect more than expensive frisbee for 65 bucks as that's all the game disk would be for me if they opt to make game Steam exclusive as then disk will also contain steamworks and will only be redeemable on steam. I could never play the game then as Steam Client will never come anywhere near any of my computers.

Oh and they added following to the FAQ so there is still some hope (It certainly wasn't there when I first looked):

They've now added following to FAQ so I'm bit hopefull:
How will I get my digital copy of the game?
We are still exploring the idea of offering number of options, but one of those is definitely going to be Steam.

Boxed copy is for $65.

CE is for $140.
This is what i want:

*More information? yes i will most likely back but i still want to know what they have planned in general that is.
*... DRM!?
*Why do all the rewards suck so badly? For 250$ You get a softcover (wtf?????) book with art, general information and so on, a t-shirt, a CE box, a post card, cloth map...
So no cd with soundtracks, No hardcover, no funny trinkets or anything else and no hardcover.
Thats more then the most expensive CE i have ever bought AND that one had everything from statues, art, paintings, metal case and so on... It feels like they are tryin to be cheap.
*Also no mater what the item is im not a huge fan of exclusive items.

Overall disappointed with the rewards... but... gaah =((

Backed it for $500 + S&H, but if they don't announce a basic tier DRM-free version by the time the project closes, I'm out.

Oops, you're right. I was blinded by all the pretty picturesand hype. $65 for a boxed copy IS alot more reasonable. Thanks for pointing that out. Honestly, i'm still pissed off about the Wings! kickstarter going down in flames (pun intended). I'm going to wait for more info before i commit to this project.
Dammit, why did this have to go up at the same time as the Homestuck Kickstarter?

I'm gonna back this anyway. To heck with my economy - I am told it is possible to live without food for some time, and I need to lose weight anyway.

Here's hoping you can talk, run or sneak your way out of most situations like in Planescape: Torment, and in a consistent manner. I'm still hung up on the mausoleum quest and its lack of a peaceful solution. (Why can't I just *give* the dude my blood with a high enough CHA score? He seemed like a harmless enough fellow).

lowyhong: Anyway, it's most probable that they will include a DRM-free release when the KS ends. Can you guys think of a major KS title that decided to say "fuck it, we're only releasing on Steam and that's that"?

That's the neat thing about KS. Power to the developer and the consumer.
Chivalry: Medieval Warfare for one. Kinetic Void devs also have somehow deluded themselves believing that Steam is not DRM. Despite saying numerous times game won't have any sort of DRM, they now consider going steam only:

Creator Sean Pollman on August 31
Steam is not DRM. its a distribution platform. As was mentioned in our Kickstarter we had not, and still have not finalized out plans for distribution. In the end we will go with what ever option is financially logical for the studio. When I know more, I will tell you, as always.

In their defense, developers/publishers do have the option to not use the DRM side of Steam. Paradox does it for several games.
Didn't see this linked anywhere, so here's a gamebanshee interview with Feargus about the game.
