I increased my bid to include the expansion. $20 is quite a lot for the expansion considering the full game only cost this much but heck, these kind of games usually give me dozens of hours of fun so it should be well worth it. All the extra stuff they'll include is right up my alley as well.

I just hope they don't try to go too "exotic" and try to change the art style and approach to something "original". I do like fresh approaches but it seems younger artists tend to go a bit too whacky for my tastes.
The background they showed didn't look radical, so I assume they're not going for the "original" approach. In fact everything I've read points to this being a pretty traditional game for hardcore RPG gamers. Which I find less appealing (I loved Planescape and its unusual setting, and things like huge dungeons and permanent death aren't for me), but I still want to support this in concept so I'm keeping my pledge.

Crosmando: Edit: Scratch that, it already has overtaken DFA.

Hooray! Let this be a lesson to all of us.

But seriously, good prediction of the outcome.
Looks like the megadungeon will not get the "full" 13 levels, unless 4k backers or so appear at the last minute. Will it not be weird for Obsidian to have mapped out 13 levels, only to leave out the last one or two?

It wasn't too difficult to predict this. They'd probably fall short of the $4M I thought they could make, but it's close enough. As for the 13 levels, it shouldn't be that much of a problem to get the Facebook page to 40,000 likes. It probably just hasn't been advertised enough with the backers. I think that 12 levels are pretty much guaranteed, we just need that extra Facebook level. Edit: And frankly, since that dungeon goal is a made up goal (i.e., unrelated to money) they can just go ahead and create all the levels. Hopefully they'll do that.

Alright, upped my pledge by $20 for the expansion.
I positively refuse to spend $20 on an expansion until I've had a chance to play the game that's being expanded; I don't care whether it's a bargain or not.

So, two big cities, huh? I thought Baldur's Gate was pretty bland in Baldur's Gate, but like Denerim in Dragon Age, so we'll see!

etna87: , unless 4k backers or so appear at the last minute.
We need 320 backers on Kickstarter and less than 500 on Paypal, and that's 12 levels. And then just 2500k to make another one. And I think we may expect another stretch goal in an hour or so.

edit. 67,5k on Kickstarter, 11 levels achieved.

How many PayPal backers are there? I thought there are about 1000 (not sure why), maybe that's not enough. Even 2000 would mean 3000 additional backers are required as of now, since Facebook likes seem to be stalling.
6 hours ago there were 2200 paypal backers. We probably already have 12 levels.

And we've just matched $3.5MIL

Did they map out 13 levels? Anyway, with this level of backing, well past $3.5M by the end, I sort of expect them to announce a couple more megadungeon levels just because.

ashwald: I doubt they'll get 3,5 million in time though. Too bad about that second city.

SLP2000: Really? I think that 3.5mln will be rather easy. 100k today and tomorrow, and then a bigger push last day will do it.
$3,513,645 right now without Paypal. I've never been happier to be wrong. XD
So awesome all this shit is happening splendidly without me having to pay a dime. Thanks people with real jobs!

I haven't donated to a single kickstarter despite tons of them being right up my alley. I am an overseas volunteer though, I barely get enough money to feed myself. Plus I figure these companies need to sell a few copies at release too.
