I'm ordinary Town. No neutral, no frills, no special circumstances. But I make no comment on what abilities I may or may not have.

Just lots of RL stuff keeping my mind off the game. No desire to clutter the thread with it.

Let somebody else be the center of attention for a while.

bler at the top for sure
pretty sure cristi is Town
wyrm and Nacho are great, but they are more than capable of fooling me

Then it's kind of all a blur. No pun intended.

Very much true. Didn't mean to imply otherwise.

Oscillating between docbear and Quadr and Lif at the moment.

Oh, well thanks. That pretty much covers it I guess.
babark is now Laura Jennings
Welcome babark!!!

Cliff's notes of what's happened thus far:

There's something scary in the woods that ate a little girl.

We've been standing around with our fiddly bits in our hands wondering what to do.

The end.

Let's kill somebody.

babark- interesting. Welcome.

Lifthrasil: It looks like we don't get flips from modkills. Let's hope that we do get flips from lynches and night-kills. Otherwise this is going to be a very hard game!
Re-read was...a bit conflicting. One thing is pinging me, but a few things that bugged me on first read don't, or at least bug me less.

The only game that comes to mind where you were town was the academy game (ultimately killed for lurking), and the two active + role-playee games I can think of you were demon overlord in one and SK in the other.

In Wyrm's game you weren't really "town" either, given that there was no town to speak of. Coming up blank on an actual mafia or town game for you.

Can you provide an example of a game where you were this active as town for comparison? And/or a game where you were mafia?

Still waiting for a bit more clarity on what happened here. How does the likelihood that they aren't w/w make you think you should vote within the pairing at all? Or is that latter comment not the actual explanation for the vote?

Stanari: Clarify who/what's doing the defense in absentia/case against 3p?
Your case against Trent (which I still don't understand), followed by you defending Ixam (who was absent at the time).

Defense in absentia => You defending an absent Ixam.
Case against 3p => Your vote for Trent.
Status assessment:

Wyrm notes something related to Masons. Curious if there's anything more he can say that's not revealing who said masons are/aren't. Might be informative about setup. Data suggests Ix not one.

Ix has claimed compulsive something, which in theory could fall in policy lynch territory down the road (this isn't shade - I have a point here about setup I'll come back to, perhaps tomorrow), but presumably he has the tools to clear himself. Potentially.

Fox is mod-killed and completely buried. Even if there is a coroner, the fact that Fox is removed from the player list means he's likely not target-able. All of which raises a range of questions. Still, I'm skeptical Drealmer would've made a larger-than-average game just to rope us in and piss off as many people as possible.

So:
1) There are flips and Fox was just a flip exception b/c of the D1 modkill
2) There are no flips/limited flips, and no coroner
3) There are no flips/limited flips, a coroner, but coroner is blocked from investigating 1 specific player as an exception?

Am I missing any?

I have to rule out 3. While I've objected to the "JMich cleared it so it must be balanced!" line of thought about the overall setup, I think he'd talk Drealmer out of that one.

And this is not an all-scum game (though I was tempted to troll yogs by just cutting/pasting his Khal Drogo slip into this game with minor edits if the chance arose), so I just don't buy no flips and no coroner a la Lift's game where it was necessary for the setup.

We've had two replacements, in both cases players with at least some suspicion within the room prior to leaving. babark enters with 3 votes on him.

I don't recall any scum games for him; not sure I'm the best qualified to assess his town game even having played 1 day of 1 game with him and observed a few. 4-5 games experience? Like Dess can be a little, uh "free flowing" in how he approaches things. English not first language IIRC? Not an analyst, per se; not a lurker.

Had a game where, as town doctor, he blocked 2-3 NKs and smoothly went along with the gutsiest town bluff ever. So certainly capable. Less opposed to people running him than doc in theory, though if he's just starting to read now he'll be at a notable disadvantage. Curious to see what those voters do with the sub in place.

Two remaining "lurkers" would then appear to be Quad and Sushi.

And as noted, two other players appear to be playing more or less the same game purposefully. Which also goes back to the setup question.

And with that, I'm going to play games for a while.
I'm not sure what to make of the situation. I'd really really like an explanation for Docbear's post and what she really meant by it, but alas, we will not get that. I like to hope the replacement was the result of real-life issues, but the thought remains that it could have been the result of making a mistake and not knowing how to get out of it. Very reminiscent of a past game where a new player buried himself and I subbed in and somehow convinced people to spare me with explanations coming out of my behind...

Either way, now his replacement needs a few days to catch up. Makes no sense to press the issue at the moment.

-------

As to Ixam, I was a bit on the fence with him to begin with. He pings my scumdar every game regardless of faction. He consistently says things that just come off wrong. But this claim, while bizarre, seems hard to fabricate (but so was Town Arsonist).

@Ixam Can you guide me to this post of yours you mention in #729?

-----

And there is Yogs, whose game is definitely different. I almost think I've got a read on him and he does a 180 on me. I was starting to see a link between him and Ixam as possible scum buddies and then he turns around and votes and pushes him. He's not playing as aggressively as I expected, but I still see some prodding here and there. I've got no clue what this means.

I don't think I ever defended Ix for being absent? And my case against trent can safely be summed up as "I'm bored, you haven't done anything splashy, and one of your posts pings me". Not sure how you got 3p out of that?

I was also looking forward to docbear explaining what she meant with that statement, it was a very odd one and it does not bode well for babark stepping into her shoes.

Did you also notice nacho made a brief appearance toady saying he was catching up and then nothing. He started off so strong and has now basically disappeared. Not sure what to make of him, but I am getting a town vibe from him, I just wish he would stay active. I just hope this day one is not dragging so much that people are losing interest in the game.

@bler, keep up the posts I appreciate them. You always give me food for thought and help to keep this game going.

Subs are necessary to keep games going, but especially mid-day they throw a wrench in things. Even moreso than my squabble with Ix, though I don't know what you expect she says that clarifies anything for you even if she sticks around.

"was it a slip?"
"no."
"Did you mean you have a large scum team or just a lot of players?"
"Uh...the latter?"

This would be a really tough game to have as one's second appearance (large group, lots of flavor, ?? mechanics, 10ish players new to her?). And she had me berating her, and you and trent ganging on for one ambiguous clause in one sentence. But yeah, I recall the prior sub scenario you refer to.

Anyway, given the higher degree of difficulty here hopefully this experience doesn't run her off.

Wrote and deleted a bit more than this since atm it's neither here nor there. Somewhat inclined personally to vote yogs if he sticks with this "lynch someone, y'all pick" thing. If nothing else, he is a someone we could pick, after all. ;)

Eh, come to think of it, it's not like my current vote is doing any good.

bler144: I don't know what you expect she says that clarifies anything for you even if she sticks around.
I'd expect the truth and some sort of explanation if she's town and some sort of lie if she's scum. What and how it's said might give me insight into which is which. Regardless, a 3-person wagon in a game where it normally takes 9 to lynch (unclear how the mechanics will be different here) is hardly piling on.

A statement like that is asking to get pressed. You see a slip, you press it and judge the result accordingly.
Please be patient with me a while longer. Today I am getting ready, tomorrow I am traveling, sunday I am able and the next days, well in the evenings I am all yours.

...

I am not caught up with recent events like why on earth did docbear ask for a sub. I will keep my vote on lx because I am still with the old news in my head. Would like to cote Quadr but not as long as his own content and wagon give little to none later.
