Dessimu: • Trentonlf is always saint. Even when he is mafia. I expected him to be more talkative now, but there is not much to talk about, other than smart assumptions of people. I feel like trentonlf is now observing people and is being on his guard against the new players. But this I know: Day 2 and further on he will sniff out any scum slip (as town) and lock onto it. Still, being more silent than usual - neutral for now.

yogsloth: Forgot I had that tab open for hours while I was replying and POOF there were lots more posts I missed.

This one above reminds me about trent, though. Lots of players I expect to hang back or give little to work with on Day 1, but not trent. Dessimu is bang-on here - trent should be yelling at somebody at this point. Usually me, but I haven't been as much of a git this time... but still SOMEBODY should be getting it. He's WAY close to the vest. Just using his pet "everybody should vote" argument. It would be like if all I were talking about were STU (STF?) and nothing else.

Vote trentonlf

BWAH HA

You see, I AM THE GREAT ZORRO AFTER ALL!!!

-Eric Barton (So Nacho knows who I am)
Why exactly should I be yelling at someone at this point? Is someone trying to break the game or reveal role information that would hurt town?

I'll always be pushing for people to vote. Would you prefer it stays the same with so many people not voting and the day continue to drag? We can continue to sit here and joke around with each other or actually try and get serious and play the game, i.e. placing some votes and talking it out.

DragonSushi: Okay. Not fully satisfied concerning the way you talked about casting a net, it really struck me like how someone would talk with multiple scum teams. Irrelevant though unless there's evidence of such.

The comment on Tammy and Nacho was to inform since I have played with them before
-I was thinking of it as basically another fishing analogy (line fishing for something a little more specific or net fishing for general reactions). I have no evidence of multiple scum teams at this time.

-Duly noted, and good enough for me (especially with the expansion in Post 566). Thanks.

-A quick glance over DragonSushi displays roughly as much material provided as CrimsonFox. However, DragonSushi is putting in a little more effort now.

-CrimsonFox seems to have gone AWOL, having reached 4 Days since previous post. Was Ixam a special case for never having shown up, or are we planning to leave any extended leaves of absence to the mod to deal with?

Actually you are right. Sure, the mod will have to deal with absences and penalties for that. But it is true that CrimsonFox didn't contribute anything useful to the game yet. Several jokey/fluffy posts initially. One copletely unexplained vote, which might have been meant as RVS, but was never retracted. And when the game actually moved out of RVS, Fox conveniently disappeared. So I would put him as suspicious too. For now I am still waiting for Ix's reply. But I would be OK to switch to CrimsonFox too.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

in character:

*calls out loud*
Jason! (SirCrimsonFox) Where have you wandered off to? Return to the group, no one should wander about alone! That's what we all decided!
And while we're at it, please explain your lingering demand that we should kill Eric (yogsloth). What has he done, that warrants your suspicion. Or, if that vote was meant as a joke, why did you never reveal that?

Lifthrasil: And I also agree on yog being different from other times. Less ... Yoggy. Did he mature during the tournament? Or is he scum, holding back?
It's a tough call. This is more or less the tone/approach he had D1 in the champs final as town, for example. Though there were a number of factors in that (fatigue being one). And he's certainly skilled enough to try and subtly exploit memories of that if he rolled scum since he knows roughly half the field followed it at least somewhat.

It's not quite the same as the scum game he played in the qualifier to my eyes, though a few similarities as well.

Quite different from his scum GoT play, and his Mime-fia town (though was a sub in that game and came in with a clear read in-hand).

The lack of RP is somewhat odd. He engaged it whole-heartedly in JMich's game, also in the GoT game. But maybe he's just less excited about being a lumberjack? IDK.

I'm not sure if I'd use the word "matured" (IT BURNS HIM WHEN HE PEES, after all) but I think two things happened - 1) he found a baseline that actually works reasonably well for him regardless of alignment that he can default to when ____ or ______ 2) I think he gained some optimism that he doesn't have to make it his quest to "reform" GoG mafia by proving people wrong about their playstyle.

So I suspect he doesn't come into this game with any chip on his shoulder or agenda to prove.

@Yogs - would like you to explain your unvote of Stan in a bit more detail.

I'm still hung up on not wanting to actually kill any of my MU friends Day 1. Plus, there are guiltier parties than her in terms of light contribution, and trent really does ping me. Haven't killed trent in a while. That might tickle my Cheerios a bit.

I appreciate all the "micro-analyze yog" stuff though, I really do.

bler144: Full disclosure, I'd read an early draft of the the basic story (not design or characters, just setting and background) for this game. Why drealmer (who lives in the NJ/PA area) set it in Maine, I can't say for sure, but let's just say we discussed certain details that were impossible (like a Maine name having an 'x' in it) and he fixed some, but I'm not judging this game expecting full consistency much less historical accuracy in the story details.
Yep, I had sent bler the signup flavor and the game opening flavor to give me a little feedback on, some drafts ago - knowing that if he played I wasn't giving him anything the rest of the players wouldn't also have come the start of D1 and didn't feel it was giving any advantage or unfair in anyway. Perhaps I should have disclosed this before but I forgot.

And, yes, I'll confirm that I don't know a lot about 17th century New England and there may be many historical inaccuracies and I don't pretend to have written something accurate or believeable. This is a work of fiction. There is no Kawicksapak Creek, Oakwood Village, Nashua is some other town somewhere else, and I didn't do any research for the writing like I normally would (not sure why.)

I considered making it more in my PA woods area (where I grew up, middle of the woods, middle of nowhere PA), and not sure why I didn't (maybe I just wanted it colder earlier?) I'll certainly be re-writing the game at some point after this is over to give it more depth, polish, and tweaks for another run in the future (?), and I'll likely switch it to PA then (NJ stuff? mleh, NJ stinks, it's the armpit of the US!)

Though, I'm afraid if I made anyone in this game a quaker you'd all accuse me of pushing a no-lynch agenda as a mod! (bahahahaha!)

And that's the whole problem with this Day 1. They are all enamored with you and focusing a lot of extra attention on you and you have no desire to actually look at any of them because it's Day 1. So we have 5 people skating around each other just giving each other looks. This is not a MU vs GOG game, this is a Mafia game last time I checked. If you find someone scummy pursue it, standing around with your dick in your hand gets you nowhere.

The parts of NJ shown in "The Station Agent" are quite lovely.

Plus you could have a character named "Trenton from Trenton."

But seriously, the NJ Devil theme could be fun. Could even go back and watch that X-files episode for inspiration.

Lol - funny. Considered adding "Shaker" to my character's profile just to round her out but decided lech would just be more fun, to the limited extent I'm RPing.

Still, while on the topic, I was going to work this in at some point in any case, so might as well just do it now:

'Tis a gift to be simple, 'tis a gift to be free
'Tis a gift to come down where we ought to be,
And when we find ourselves in the place just right,
'Twill be in the valley of love and delight.

Off for a bit this evening, need to cook/clean and might actually try and get some exercise. And by "exercise" I probably mean "sit and play video games."

Plus people are probably sick of hearing me yammer anyway. ;)

bler144: ...
The Devil has taken You!!!! Oh wait, that's just a rep. number.

I know that NJ devil episode pretty well from the X-Files, wouldn't need to rewatch it, if anything, I'd do more reading on it. oof, it's not that good of an episode, but then, that's not saying much for X-Files, as they tend to be pretty bad through and through (though endearing and interesting at times.)

And, yes, I agree, NJ has pretty parts, and the lore of the NJ devil is interesting, but, there is also a kind of PA vs. NJ thing and I was playing into that, even though it's stupid - but NJ still does stink actually, and there are other things that make me go poopoo to NJ (I did go to school there for 2 years.)

and...heh...quakers and shakers...sooo not the same thing (though you may know that), but they always get associated together

if I did a game based in PA a little later in time, I could have lots of quaker and amish flavor, that'd be fun!

I could mod a game sometime set in some location local and familiar to me. That could be fun.

"Murder in that one crappy shoebox-sized locker room that doesn't have direct access to the ice we always get stuck in at the Lakewood hockey rink"

Has a ring to it.

In GoT Yog was under an alt account, for what that's worth. It also let him talk like an insane megalomaniac. Lumberjack is certainly a downgrade. I don't know if it's some part of Yog's greater meta, but do dislike the RP point
