Now, ice hockey, that's the game real men play! They don't cheat, they kick in your teeth with the blade. Cheaters couldn't get alive from the ring alive.

No idea about cricket since it's absolutely no thing here. But the players involved should definitely resign. I looked up some statements and something like this from a player involved seems like a joke: "It's big error in judgment but we'll learn from this and move past it".
The fans should boo these people from the field.
