I got that thing too, I thought I had gone insane. Seriously, thanks for posting this.

What I did that fixed it is I immediately uninstalled the Galaxy client and went back to using the good old GOG Downloader :D

If you take the first 5 characters (佇⁇慇慬祸), their byte representations in UTF16-LE (the native encoding on Windows) is identical to the encoding of "GOG Galaxy" in ASCII (in this case, the encoding that these strings were actually stored in).
