In lieu of the summer sale, let's mention various fun RPG gems that aren't mentioned that much often, despite being great. Most people know about Baldur's Gate, Arcanum, Neverwinter Nights, Might and Magic 1-8 (+9), System Shock, The Witcher, but what about all the other great RPGs? Here's a list to talk about them and recommend various fun RPGs that usually get lost unless some 90s/80s or niche threads come up!

I'll start off with:

Summoner

Revenant

Albion

Magic and Mayhem

Darklands

Al-Quadim

Dragon Wars - one of the older games but still fun if you can get past the older interface and style of playing. You have various ways of going about in the game and a good magic system. Someone else on GOG had a better review, I haven't actually played it but they made me want to play it

Lands of Lore 1-3 - No need to play them all in order, they work as standalones. A really fun first person dungeon crawling adventure with a good plot, the third game brings in 3D

Quest for Glory - one of the best adventure games out there and a RPG to boot! You use your class skills to solve problems you're faced with

Nox (free on Origin at the moment) - A Diablo-like game with three classes and a really fun, balanced multiplayer

Strife - an RPG FPS with quests

Rage of Mages II - a famous Russian

The Summoning - an isometric RPG/hacknslash that includes an interesting magical system where you make symbols with your hands

I'll add some short description later on!

Age of Decadence

Nox has always been a goto title for me to fall back on. About every 5 yrs I give it another playthrough which translates to three playthroughs since I always play the Conjurer, Wizard and Warrior storyline.
Something that's not mentioned a lot but I think is a great old-style RPG series are the Eschalon games.
Dark Heart of Uukrul.
Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader. Ok, yes, it does go downhill later in game, but the first half is so good it's worth getting the game just for that. Especially for it's current price. Maybe the most interesting setting I've ever seen in any RPG.

Driftmoon- that one is pure joy. Sure, the graphicsare not great, but the gameplay is fantastic. It has great mood, humor, characters and it's just so much damn fun to play through. In terms of just being fun and charming this is as good as RPGs get.

Which half was good? I went straight into the wilderness and battled a bunch of goblins before going into the city. That part was kinda fun, but I think I might have done things in the wrong order. I was however surprised to find that after all the experience and gear I got in the wilderness, I was still pretty worthless against the city guards.

Pretty much everything in Barcelona. I don't remember the game exactly now (it's been years since I played it), but I remember everything in Barceolna was great fun, plenty of great and fun quests with historical characters like Machiavelli, Cervantes, Da Vinci, joining the hidden renegade mages (or one of the other organisations), the quest line for the saracens was also pretty fun as I recall...

Interesting, so the part I didn't really play was the good part. Might have to give it a go again sometime.
Soulbringer
It was epic back in the day but its pretty rough nowadays. Guess it holds nostalgia for me which can make any game good.

That's the one I forgot! Also +1, it's a really interesting game!

And I agree about Lionheart, it's a fun game, at least the first part when you're in the city. I hear the second part where you travel more in the wilderness isn't as much fun, but I never got that far, I either got bored or stuck somewhere I think. Not sure.

And there's Inquistion in the game too!

Also Inquistion is a good RPG with a multitude of choices.

THIS! Oh how I love that game.... still have it on my PC.
Geneforge series, Avernum series. :)

Don't forget the Avadon series.

(Playing Avadon 2, there are a couple cheats in particular that make the game significantly more enjoyable. Every game with skill points should have a respec option, even if it's a cheat.)

The game's programmer posted once about making a remaster of the game, but I think she's been sidetracked by Bard's Tale Remastered.

Even though I already own Dragon Wars (from the Ultimate RPG Archives), I am thinking of rebuying the game here for convenient access. (And, of course, if the remaster is released DRM-free, I will likely buy it as well.)

By the way, the other games in the URPGA are as follows:
Bard's Tale 1, 2, and 3 (DOS versions, note that 3 is badly broken, not the same versions as those included with the 3D game)
Bard's Tale Construction Set
Wasteland (available on GOG under the title "Wasteland 1: The Original Classic")
Stonekeep (available on GOG)
Ultima Underworld 1 & 2 (available on GOG)
Might and Magic: World of Xeen (CD-ROM full speech version, available on GOG as part of Might and Magic 6: Limited Edition)
Wizardry Gold (available on GOG as part of Wizardry 6+7, though I recommend playing the DOS version of 7 (included as a bonus with said GOG bundle) instead)

By the way, how is Stonekeep?

Yes, of course Avadon too! I haven't played it yet to be honest (still in my backlog, maybe I'll start it later this year and most possibly during the winter), but it seems it has the quality that Spiderweb is known for.

dtgreene:
I saw Stonekeep's first two hours during GOG's Twitch stream and must say I didn't like it very much, it seemed like a repetitive hack and slash in the first two levels of the tower.

What's URPGA btw?
