Albion is really great, played it 20 years ago, have replayed it several times since then, last time a few months ago...if you can live with the ugly 3D graphics, the gameplay has held up really well...I like the puzzles in the dungeons (something which games like Baldur's Gate largely neglected) and the setting is unique and charming.

"URPGA" is just the acronym I made up on the spot for the Ultimate RPG Archives.

Of note, the only game in that collection that is not available in some form on gog.com is Bard's Tale Construction Set. (Of course, you can just get Unlimited Adventures if you want a game of this type, but the two games are not the same.)

On my wishlist to be grabbed at the end of the sale. Having never played them before, but seeing how they're well regarded, I look forward to adding them to my backlo- er... collection. Yeah, 'collection', that's it.

Digimon World 1. It's a little buggy and badly translated, but it was unique for its time.

I love the setting, the plot and the characters... unfortunately, I gave up after 10-15 hours in due to an overworld that is too big, bland and boring as well as severely repetitive combat with some at best mediocre mechanics. I swear, character placement is practically useless as everybody ends up in a big clump every single time.

Such a shame. =/

Have to say that I'd never read any Raymond E. Feist stuff before the game -- bought it when it was first released -- but I ended up reading all of his Riftwar books after that. The games themselves even got written into a trilogy, with a bridging book between the two.

I admit the combat system isn't that great and can be somewhat repetitive (though there is decent variety in enemies and spells in my opinion). It's a bit annoying that you can only place your own characters in the two bottom rows, but placement does matter to some extent (basically I always tried to shield my spellcasters/ranged fighters with melee fighters like Tom and Drirr).
But I can understand that you got somewhat frustrated with the combat and the large overland maps...can become a bit too grindy. However, I still liked Albion's combat better than that of e.g. Fallout 2 which really bored me.

Funny thing: I read some of Riftwar books way back when I was young and never realized there were any games based on Riftwar until just a couple years ago.

I have been trying to decide between Rage of Mages I and Rage of Mages II. Supposedly, there is a cursor bug in II that has been fixed in the first.
