Yay, thank you I didn't even notice!

Also, good to know I'm as crazy as someone named gamesfreak ;) It became almost a game to me after I didn't click it the first few days ... "I wonder if it's ever going to go away? Is GoG going to leave it there until I click it? How long can I go...???"

I hope I don't get locked out of my account tomorrow - but thanks for pointing this out as I had kind of forgotten about it LOL.

Hopefully they either fixed it or just removed it.

It never really worked right anyway... it should have asked only once if your email was correct, one you pressed yes it would still keep asking randomly.
I assume this is regarding the secondary 4 digit code sometimmes sent your email addrress.

My understanding of this is that when GoG implemented it they said that when it had been used once there would "usually" be no need to go through it again, though there would be a need every now and then to keep things safe.

I took this to mean that some sort of cookie type mechanism was being used to keep track. In practice, I have found that I need to retreive a code from my email about 1 in 10 times. However I don't log in each day, sometimes not for a month or so.

Then again, I have logged in each day for the last week or so, and only been asked once (earlier today). I logged out a couple of hours ago, and then back in to post this just now. Strangely, when logging in this time I was greeted with my Avatar and asked only for my password. No 2nd mail check, not even a login.

A few things to note,
1) I hadn't switched off the pc since logging out earlier today.
2) I usually switch the pc off every night.
3) I have cookies stopped on both Firefox and CC Cleaner (though on CC I think I have GoG as accepted).

I write this to add information to those trying to figure out the mechanics of when a secondary code is requested and to let people know access to your mail is still required. Sometimes.

so basically this 'extra layer' isnt extra enough you mean ?
I noticed that steam clients asks once in a while for confirmation to check if things are still okay. still the problem is that anything kept on any server regardless of how strong the socalled encryption is, can and will be passed by the evil people.

In the past an extreme long gibberish password was enough but today it seems the good guys are running far behind the technology of the bad guys, which is worrying.

Anyway we cant do anything else then to use a difficult to guess pw as possible, the bad thing is we need an external mail adress, wouldnt it be better if a very sort small mail thing would be present on gog servers?
I mean all those free / paid mailservices arent that safe anymore, seems yahoo is the worst.....

Good thing gmail exists and maybe there are more mailservices like that, i bet even mickeysofts mail is more secure then yahoo.

I think he's referring to the e-mail address confirmation prompt that appeared on the store's front page around the same time 2-step authentication changed from opt-in to opt-out. I had forgotten about it, to be honest, as it only appeared once for me, disappearing permanently after I confirmed my account's linked address. I had no idea it was still showing up regularly for some people.

Oh Yes. I had that every day, and every time I logged in if more than once a day - during the winter sale. Once the sale ended so did the banner asking "is this your email address?" I haven't seen it since.
I haven't encountered this for a while now. Seems they switched it off.
