It's a shame really. All those years ago we got the first game in the series and I guess unfortunately we can't count on GOG to bring us sequels to games that are already here. Or rather, have been here for a number of years now. In general, it's a really bad practice to not offer the follow ups to products you carry on any storefront. Well, I guess I'll just buy it on Steam and download a cracked version off some website, at least someone's going to get my money for it today.
Source?
Hold the boat, Freedom Planet 2 Is available DRM-Free on itch.io though, which I admit I'm using a lot more to keep up with my Being A DIK type games (Fresh Women, City Of Broken Dreamers, Leap Of Faith, Chasing Sunsets, etc) so I just bought it there. Today was the release date, so if it's not here at launch, then I'm just gonna use another DRM-Free store, please and thank you.

Have a good one, folks!
Oh!, the drama...
It could be possible that GOG's curation team rejected this. Seems like a nice game to be honest.
Speaking of GalaxyTrail, the creator of Grapple Force Rena and Petal Crash told me that the "curators" on GOG a very picky and he doesn't bother with them anymore. The problem with curation is that it often goes under personal tastes than following a guideline.

Judging by the games with had in the last year, it I think it's clear what sort of games the "curators" like to have here. Sure we get a bone once in a while, but it's mostly the same. Perhaps the games from GalaxyTrail look too Japanese for GOG.

Actually, I thought they've had quite a few Japenese style games in here, to the point where I've become rather picky about them now because there are so many and I can only play so much of it.
Wow, I had no idea that Freedom Planet 2 launched on itch.io. That's just weird. Kinda reminds me of Celeste, which launched there but not on GOG for some unfathomable reason. I know the devs of both games are total weirdos, so maybe their politics made them not want to bring the game over. Who knows?

Would be good if it launched here because... I'd rather buy it here, but yeah. I doubt this is a curation thing - that argument kinda went out the window once all the weeb VNs started showing up.

I'm too busy with other stuff to play it yet, but really hope it's here by the time I am ready to dig in.
I find it strange that Freedom Planet 2 was released on itch.io, yet GalaxyTrail did not release the original Freedom Planet over there.

If we can get it on a shop, it'll get on that shop. But we can't guarantee a release on any other shop on the same day as Steam. GoG has a long and slow testing approval process and Humble also has someone on the other end that has to push buttons.

I'd give it more time before making such definitive claims, but that's just me.

If it's on Itch.io, the only reason why I would bother with a GOG version by that point would be for achievements and nothing else.
I mean, now that the game is on itch, it almost seems kinda redundant to bring it over to GOG too. Both platforms are DRM-Free and it seems that itch.io is starting to gain more popularity in the last year or so. I've bought more games from there than I have from here in the past few weeks, so maybe that's just a sign of things to come. The curation there doesn't even seem to be near as strict, they even have fan games on there. Ah well, it is what it is, I guess.
I know nothing about the game in question...

... but...

... I know a couple of games (I have spoken with the devs)...

... who are on itch.io and who claim to have been rejected by GOG (as I remember they have released on Steam as well).

I certainly couldn't figure out why they would have been rejected based on quality. But if you try to figure out GOG's opaque curation process, you'll go crazy.

Getting stuff DRM-free elsewhere is fine, but I gotta warn you that some developers on itch just direct you to their Steam page instead of offering a DRM-free download, and there's plenty that don't keep their games up-to-date there (or on Humble, or GamersGate, etc.). I got Warlock of Firetop Mountain on Humble but it has Steam-exclusive DLC. =(
